Craft in your house or an inn room

Just learned this the hard way. Craft in your house or an inn room. Otherwise there are people that stand around in cities and look in the box at what people craft, then immediately go to the market board to see if they sold it so they can sell it cheaper.

I don't know if these are bots, but it just happened. I crafted a Uraeus Skirt. Put it on the MB. Someone else crafts a skirt right after me, goes and puts it cheaper. Literally same town, area, and marketbaord near.

It's a competitive market. Players watch what others are selling then try to sell the same things. This is especially true of new players trying to learn the market.

A bot isn't going to copy you. They're also much more likely to be already in an apartment doing their crafting so any behavior that gives them away as a bot won't be seen by other players to report.

Saying "Literally same town, area, and marketbaord near" doesn't add any weight to your claim and makes me wonder if you know how the marketboard works in this game. All marketboards display the same listings regardless of location. The city state flag on a listing indicates where the selling retainer is stationed, not where the player is.

If you watched the player craft the skirt or saw the name of a player standing near you match the name of the Maker's Signature on the lowest price listing, stating that would add weight to your claim.

It still doesn't matter though. You're going to need to get used to competition, especially on something like a Uraeus Skirt that's popular for glamour since it's cosmetic and not job-locked. I'm willing to bet you left out the fact that you listed your skirt lower than the 15+ already listed. Doesn't that ultimately make you just as bad as the player who undercut you?

First of all, no need to be sarcastic about it.
Second of all, I'm not complaining about the undercutting. It happens. I'm saying looking at what people are synthesizing in the chatbox since it announces it, is lower than undercutting. Crafting in room/house prevents at least that.

The market board is no holds barred PVP. Nothing is "low" at all, except for cheating.

I craft in my house, Gridiana or Eulmore. Use to craft mostly in Limsa but too many players around willing to stand on you lol

Note: Taking advice from a players alt, is like taking advice from a voice in a dark room. Criticism is a two way street remember that!!

As you learned in game, something valuable to craft in a private area, you'll learn in the forums its much the same.

You posted something helpful, and logical, and people respond with sarcasm and insults, and they get their comments "liked."

So continue to learn to maneuver around these people, the positive you can take away, is as you saw with crafting, there is a simple answer! I hope you continue to have fun.

People responded with additional lessons to be learned about the player economy and got upvoted for being helpful. OP took it personally for whatever reason and should not have their pointless frailty reinforced.

Isn’t there an option to not put that info in chat? Or is it only not visible to me. Whatever I craft doesn’t show up in chat for me so I’m unsure if it shows for others.

You can turn on/off both own and others' synthesis messages, but disabling own synthesis messages just stops it from appearing in that chat window. It doesn't prevent other people with it enabled from seeing it.
