    Warriors Thoughts

I have been playing ever since 1.0(ugh) and also 2.0 onwards. I don't think I have ever felt like Warrior has ever felt quite right. 2.0 it was OK as a life steal tank, but I think SE may have missed the mark for what they wanted the tank to be ultimately. Warrior has always been a class trying to hang onto an idea of what it should have been.

I ultimately hung up my warrior and finished out 2.0 with PLD. Didn't touch warrior until near the end of 3.0 just to level it, and the same for 4.0. Others would argue warrior was "top dog" for tanking in 4.0, but I didn't see it when I played. Like it was trying to accomplish to much, and everyone was And each subsequent patch update I noticed warrior was no longer ANYTHING like it was prior slipping further and further from it's basic core fundamentals.

Focus become more and more on DPS, and less on a coherent rotation for tanking that you can get behind. It felt like warrior to me had to do some REALLY fancy things to pull incredible DPS, don't get me wrong amazing DPS! I felt that I would do that better playing a DPS rather then being a tank trying to be a DPS. Again...I would hang it up after every expansion released...

5.0 Warrior is striped down to literally the basics it almost started with, and I started to enjoy the class more. Became my 3rd 80 after PLD and ASTRO. But Nascent bugged me so I didn't continue playing it due to the gimmicky nature of Nascent. The rotation was much more coherent and simple, but warrior felt caged though, and the potential was nearly there.

5.3 The cage was opened and now Warrior feels so damn...perfect! THIS is what was missing in 2.0...this kit! There are those that feel warrior is basic and simple, but I say so what. When I'm tired of a breakneck rotation on PLD, and switch to warrior it's like a stroll in the park, relaxing. I have never had more fun with warrior then I have now. Nascent perfect, Storms Eye perfect, DPS is strong, sustainability on point. I have not been on my PLD at all since 5.3 released.

Warrior may be my new main tank and I have waited for 6 years. Incredible feeling. Paladin's felt this 5.0 launch because SE knocked paladin out of the park. Least changed job this expansion. Now Dark Knights need there time in the spot light.

So.... 5.0 you had issues with warrior... but with 5.3 it's better?

It literally didn't change at all. You just have an additional 15s of eye with IR every 90s... it doesn't add dps or change the looping rotation that WAR has of Eye path path path eye path path gauge dump eye path path IR eye....

"Gimmicky nascent" Nascent is LITERALLY the exact same thing. You just can use it in solo pleb content now... like, okay? It's the same thing. It's LITERALLY the same thing. How is it so bad in 5.x but now it's magically better?

This folks, is what the placebo effect is. Thinking something is different, when it is the same thing but just looks different.

Like. TBN is "gimmicky" then, because you can use it on self or on a person in raid, Heart of Stone is gimmicky, same reason, intervention is gimmicky... like for real man I just don't even understand this logic as it applies to LITERALLY all of the tanks with their person CD.

Raw Intuition is the personal, solo version of Nascent.

So using Nascent in 5.0 worked the same as the "gimmicky" nature of TBN, Intervention, and Heart of Stone? no...just no...

Now follow along here...i know it's hard for some...

Nascent REQUIRED another party member. Key word here.... REQUIRED it did not work QUICKLY without a macro or if party member was to far away. TBN, Intervention, Heart of Stone did NOT REQUIRE another party member. Now you say it's the same thing....????

    5.0 REQUIRED
    5.3 NOT-REQUIRED
Tell me how it's the same again? Because you said it's still gimmicky still. When in fact the gimmick was removed, and free to use however I see fit....just like TBN, intervention, and Heart of Stone.

I don't understand your argument on a QoL....... Do you understand your own argument?

Imagine not being good enough to tab target to a teammate and literally throwing away your amazing utility in Nascent becuase it was "too hard" to use lmfao. Okay.

"it might be hard for some" bro you wanna condescend to me, that's fine, but you're getting it right back at you. You are not good at warrior if you can't use Nascent flash properly. Sorry. And no, this is not a dps increase. You are W R O N G. You can fit the SAME AMOUNT of paths to eye usages, it's just now that you can refresh eye a little earlier if it will help with a boss transition. It's the SAME rotation. SAME dps.

You gain literally 15s extra from IR. That's it. You still have to reapply eye though. It just makes it easier to do so.

Proof: I actually raid in all of the savages, have progged, cleared, and recleared on Warrior. Have progged and cleared all three ultimates on warrior, even TEA, which has: YOU GUESSED IT! NASCENT FLASH!

I made one macro, problem solved. I had the skill reserved for when the cotank was not near me for w/e reason for a party member. I play on controller. No issues here.

This is a non issue. Warrior is the exact same, but a little easier. Case closed.

Nobody said it was "too hard" to make a macro for Nascent Flash. I did say it was mandatory though to get 3 cleaves in the window. I did say it was annoying not being able to efficiently use it in quest settings where the only friendly you have is an npc. Yes, War is almost the exact same but more fun to play.

    Who is disputing that anyway?

I'm just confused by how hostile you are to some players who are just having fun with QOL adjustments that were aimed at just making things more fun for Wars.

As the theme of this whole post has been. Warrior is more fun to play with that one little adjustment. Although some would argue it plays completely the same, but in fact it does not completely play the same. I am not disputing the relevance of warrior as some of the other posts have. Warrior IS relevant! The point of all of this is that it is more fun to play!

If this was a post about how they made Monk better with a slew of QoL fixes. There would STILL be people getting on here and blasting "OMG MONK IS SO BRAIN DEAD TO PLAY NOW!". As opposed to...clunky and broken to play before?....I don't follow. There will always be those that went through the classes worst moments and turned lemons into lemonade. While still wearing that badge like it's a entitlement. I catch myself doing it sometimes...especially if the topic is Monk. When that day comes and they fix monk (hopefully). I shelved Monk during 4.0 because it was trash game play, and I don't want to waste my time further frustrating myself over poor design choices. I picked up another DPS and tried leveling a SMN from level one, and that gave me some perspective about how other DPS jobs played.

Your not going to see me on the forums wishing I had the old version of monk back because anything they come up with has got to be better then what we have now. And your not going to see me wishing I had the old version of Warrior back because it wasn't fun to play imo. I don't feel as a tank you have to be doing as much damage as a DPS, but I should be focused on tanking. Yes DPS IS part of my job but it shouldn't be so important to the community that I bring tanking AND top DPS to the table. Warrior went to incredible DPS heights that no other tank could touch it.

Shadowbringers has reset all the tank jobs to an equalized level, and each one is completely viable without singling out tanks for being crap DPS. DRK needs a little love in the "gameplay" category, but I still find DRK a fun tank to play, and personally think they missed the mark with how Dark Arts works for the job. But this is what we have, and I for one love the QoL changes for warrior even though some say it's exactly the same. Well it's fun to me now...because before it wasn't.

I agree with you, and I don't know where all this hostility is coming from. I can only speculate that some don't like change and look towards the past to base off their arguments. Warrior is better off, and way more fun to play.

You're overly hostile for no reason. Saying "it's too hard" isn't condescension, maybe you should open a dictionary and (re)read what it means to condescend to someone... or just use your own post for an example.

While I dont have exact numbers, the fact you now have more time before needing to reapply storm's eye means you can cast more Storm's Path, which means more gauge overall, which feeds into more Fel Cleaves and Infuriate resets. even if the math turns out to says it's only like 1 extra Fel Cleave every 2 minutes, that is still a damage increase.

But yes my dude, the fact that Nascant no longer needs a target is a big deal, especially for the average player who may not be as savvy with macros. it makes it easier to quickly weave even if only by little.

I totally agree with this 100%. It is much easier to weave Nascent in my rotation, and macro out how I want it. It's basically like TBN, Heart of Stone, or intervention. Very hand skill vs. the opposite.
