For this to work, there would have to be things to actually do in the open world other than hunts and FATEs. And given how many people were raging about blue mages over the Yo-Kai event......

That is kinda my point; the "tourist" character has access to everything in the open world that an end-game character might. If they want any other content, they would play the actual game. Benefit being they can go anywhere with their friends, maybe scout around/video drone for podcasts, etc.
