A couple bozja relic questions

1) why are relic quest items dropping from HW fates and not norvrandt? I don’t understand this decision, has there been an official answer?

2) if I decided I wanna upgrade a relic from a job different than the one I accepted the quest as, will the Fate items I’ve already grinded be deleted if I abandon the quest or will they still be usable after accepting the quest again?

the items stay in your inventory they are not key items

They don't really tell you to go to Heavensward either, just to reference your memories. ShB could work just as well as HW so it was a bit of an odd choice.

Maybe they want HW zones and dungeons to look active for the people using the free trial?

Read the name of the items. Tortured Memory, Sorrowful Memory, and Harrowing Memory. What do these have in common with HW?

Tortured Memories are obtained in Coerthas West and Sea of Clouds, both areas that the Ishgardian troops protected during their long war with the dragons, which was torture for the people knowing they were still in war and could at any time be under siege.
Sorrowful Memory is from Dravanian Forelands and Sea of Clouds. Both locations where the dragons are from, who are still in sorrow over the death of Ratatoskr (since they live for a VERY long time).
Harrowing Memory from Dravanian Hinterlands and Azys Lla, both places we visited after Haurchefant's death, which was very distressing for us and still something our character hurts from to this day.

Thematically, it makes perfect sense why we can get them from HW.

Others have already largely covered it, but I'd say it's also worth considering that the future Resistance weapon steps will likely include FATEs in SB (and dungeons) and then in ShB zones (and dungeons) so it makes sense to start in HW.

They do outright tell you to go to those areas - or rather the game does. It's one of those things where the character makes a vague suggestion in dialogue but then you get system text telling you the specific zones where memories can be farmed.

Relic weapons have always (with the exception of Eureka) existed as another method of keeping old content alive. Either by making you run x amount of low level dungeons, or grind fates in low level areas, they've always tried to get people to do older, less done content with the relic grind. Eureka was a seperate thing so they couldnt really do it there, but now they're giving options so people can either do it in Bozja, or do it in Heavensward fates to help keep that content alive. I'm sure the next relic step will have players doing a bunch of other old content as an alternative to bozja as well as. don't expect to do much SHB stuff for the relic at all, Bozja clearly excluded.

I'm sure they calculated that many new players brought in by the free trial and starter edition changes would most likely be in HW zones by now.
The next stage will likely involve SB zones in some respect.
I'm not sure if we'll get to a ShB stage, because ShB FATEs already have a lot of incentive to run as it is. They're decent EXP and grant Bicoloured Gemstones which are used for a variety of things including mats for Ishgard restoration.

I really hope the next step isn't "Run FATEs", cause Bozja is also basically "run FATEs".
I mean, "60 and you're done" isn't a heavy burden at all. I almost wish it was higher.
