    I'd personally go with as high as -35-45% damage taken. my reasoning is since PLD's DPS is no where as good as WAR which hold enmity by repeating a decently damaging combo, PLD should be efficient enough as a tank that having one would negate the need for a "Two WHMs" set up completely in almost every situation, substituting the 2nd WHM for a DD or a support class.
    That's basically my thinking. The PLD has to be taking damage that is reduced enough so that it can successfully dish out heals to other party members while a single WHM can keep it up coupled with its own side secondary heal from Holy Succor. I believe that to be the most sensitive point of balance. Whatever % they need to satisfy that works.

    except you're barking up the wrong tree.

    paladin is an inferior tank because its rate of enmity generation is significantly lower than that of warrior. having lower base HP and doing less dps are contributing factors situationally, but damage taken really isn't the issue at all (unless your healers are slow/terrible). i mean we'd probably be using MNK tanks for mistress if they had just one more taunt.

    reducing the damage paladin takes by a % does absolutely *nothing* for its enmity generation and therefore does absolutely *nothing* to solve the actual problem. which means people will still take warrior over paladin any day of the week, except for when learning an encounter.

    Give PLD an inherent global damage reduction of 15-20%.
    They have that, its called Defense.

    The two reason imo that Pld is inferior to War is.

    1. Max HP is lower.
    2. Damage output is much lower.

    When it comes to low man content when you can get away with a WAR tank people will use it because it does more damage and results in quicker runs/speed runs. However, when there is 20+ man content in 2.0 I think you will see Pld tanking the majority of that content. Though atm WAR is a better tank because of its base max hp, and if they gave PLD a good increased in max hp they will be much much better when that 20+ man content comes. I do not believe a 10% dmg reduction is necessary or even remotely balanced.
