5 heat blasts is standard, if you’re struggling to get the 5th it’s likely ping issues. Also during wildfire you want to get all 5 heat blasts and one additional GCD (not drill or air anchor as they have horrible animation delay). Again, if you struggle to get that 6th GCD during wildfire it’s due to ping.

I also struggle with ping so here are some tips that have helped me:

First, wait until your GCD is about 2/3rds of the way through the cooldown before activating overheat, we’re talking missing that final heat blast by half seconds here so every little helps. Also, when using wildfire double weave wildfire and overheat. Do wildfire first then overheat as wildfire’s window is slightly more lenient.

Second is to only try for 1 gauss round and 1 ricochet during your overheat window, that way you won’t overcap on charges and you’ll clip your GCD less making the window for the 5th heat blast less tight.

Finally, don’t spam heat blast, if you’re constantly mashing the button it likely won’t register. This takes some practice but time your button presses so you hit it as soon as you know it will register, this is usually when heat blast is about halfway through the GCD, don’t wait for the GCD to be finished (due to ping this means heat blast has actually been ready for half a second or longer already) and don’t hit it too early (you’ll get the “cannot use this yet” message and you’ll likely clip the GCD before you press it again).

Internet in my area is really crap, luckily I live about 100 metres from an O2 4G antenna. I now have a 4G ‘hotspot’ acting as a modem and routed through a gaming router. Since going to that, my internet has improved massively. However, some days I can hit 5 Fell Cleaves as WAR and sometimes I can’t. It’s frustrating but I generally try little things like closing Steam down, disconnecting my phone from WiFi etc. Every little helps

I have run into this issue when I was on horrible ISP.
    1. Warrior was a struggle - Fell Cleave spam
    2. Monk was a struggle - Perfect Balance spam
    3. Paladin was a struggle - Holy Spirit + Confiter
    4. Machinist was a struggle - Heat blast Spam
    5. Summoner was a nightmare - Dreadworm + Deathflare, Wyrmwave + Ahk Morn, and the phoenix burst phase respectively.

You start to see the pattern here if you ping is really high.

Once I was able to switch to an ISP with very good bandwidth and very stable ping of around 30-50 everything above literally became non-existent.

I found it strange that SE decided to design the game this way when you see other MMO's with an incredibly faster GCD (WoW) and not really suffer from the input lag. Maybe it's due to SE's servers architecture or net code of the platforms being used. I don't know.

But at the end of the day. Faster internet makes this game MUCH more enjoyable when your trying to min max a rotation.
