    We Don't Need New Jobs

We have 18 Jobs, 19 if you count Blue Mage.

I don't understand everyone always wanting new jobs for every expansion when our current jobs need devoted attention over creating a whole new job. Summoner to me still needs a lot of love as it doesn't feel like a pet-focused job, scholar, a few others. I know I am in the low end of the population but I rather the dev team spent their resources on fixing what we already got instead of just adding job after job to appease people that can't seem to be happy with picking between 18! EIGHTEEN FREAKING Choices.

People want the Jobs they know and love from other Final Fantasy titles, can you really condemn them for that?

I'm taking Lore way too seriously. And I'm not sorry about that.

I can when they whine at a Dev team who are already having to stretch themselves out across 18 jobs to balance and define.

WoW hasn't added new classes for two expansions with Shadowlands coming out.

Guild Wars 2 hasn't even released an expansion in awhile

These two are just examples that are still beloved and populated despite not having a billion jobs to choose from.

I am just saying when you look at it from the standpoint of how many we have...is it really justified getting shitty at Yoshi P and the team.

Nobody should get shitty at anyone over it, but new jobs and races sell expansions. They know that as well, so they'll keep adding jobs as long as it's feasible.

This statement is very much overlooking the fact that each class in WoW has at least two specialisations, most have three. The specialisations are often so different to each other they may as well be different classes.

Last I looked, druid has four, demon hunter has two, and the rest each have three.

This is a really bad example because WoW has 3 specialisations per class. So basically there's 3 classes per class in WoW. They copped a lot of criticism for specialisations feeling like completely new classes instead of being a specialisation of a class.

So if you want to heal you can play Mistweaver monk, Restoration Shaman, Restoration Druid, Holy Paladin, Holy Priest, or Discipline Priest.

6 healing specs all of them incredibly varied. Discipline priest heals by doing damage, holy paladin is great at healing a tank not so good for raidwide heals, mistweaver monk has the healing over time thing.

Same with tanks, Brewmaster Monk, Blood Death Knight, Protection Warrior, Protection Paladin, Vengeance Demon Hunter, Guardian Druid.

    6 tanks.

Square Enix isn't a single guy developing the game in their mother's basement, they've got more than enough resources to add & balance more classes.

Also an odd choice to use WoW as an example, seeing how they have 12 classes with 3 specs each. Not to even talk how WoW has a much deeper gear system than ff14 where you just get the highest ilvl. So yeah FF14 isn't even near WoW in terms of things that need to be balanced.

It's SE's / FFXIV's own fault that they've had almost the exact same battle design team since ARR. They are adding new jobs every expansion and aren't adding staff to support them.

They don't even have enough designers to have a developer dedicated to each role. They only have 3.

    https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ealer-designer.

They have a manager, 3 designers, and I think they got an intern / assistant somewhere in Stormblood or Shadowbringers.

They said healers, but multiple jobs have had extremely glaring issues almost every single expansion. MNK for 5 years, Healers for 5 years, 2.0 Warrior, 3.0 Bow Mage, 5.0 RDM Terrible Mana management, the list goes on.

Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]

Well if we are going to compare, BFA end credits only has one lead class designer then a bunch of game designers. But for the sake of argument lets say they do have a huge staff. While WoW only has 12 classes, each has three specs that they have an extremely hard time balancing out. Always has. They are basically trying to balance 36 "jobs" on top of revamping the class system during each expansion. And while a Class maybe viable, a certain spec isn't.

The benefit WoW has that FFXIV doesn't is Beta testing before launch to have players help with the glaring problems. A lot of problems from 5.0 could have been avoided if players could have tried the LV. 80 job and gave feedback. But then everything isn't a secret at launch. Personal i think SE needs a beta test to avoid problems.

To answer the OPs question though, yes we do need new classes to keep it fresh. A lot of players have everything maxed out and this gives them fresh content to play.
