I see enough of these threads that I thought it might be worth mentioning some things:

1. The idea of allowing PL to continue in the game was an effort to allow those that are behind to catch up. Inherently this is a good thing, it can be misused but the concept is at its heart good in purpose.

2. Removal of the current PL mechanics will only result in the outside high healer/tank method which is nearly as lazy.

3. Some of us have issues, such as having to restart for various reasons. My wife for example lost her account due to a dispute with a third party she had to start anew, though she had numerous jobs leveled and this was disheartening to her. Having a catch up dynamic that I could quickly get her levels back has been a good thing.

4. I have, and know numerous others that have had some levels PLed on low level jobs I/they found especially boring to get through. But, as for me, once I hit the late 30s or 40s at a job I will take it and leve quest on it solo and with parties to learn the dynamics of it. Frankly, most jobs are quite a different ballgame until about then anyway, since they lack the majority of the tools that will make them unique later.

5. Some people, and I've played with many of them, have every job up to 50, never got a PL and still don't have the foggiest notion of how to play many/all of those jobs. I have seen a ton of plds and glds that never used a shield, tanks that can't tank, healers that don't know many of their skills, DD who have no idea where to stand for their various combos, bards who can't heal, buff, etc... all of them, terrible at their jobs, who didn't get PLed.
