You CAN be PL'd pos-40.
I'm hoping you DON'T, though.
40-50 is that one last stretch you have, that the best option is to PT.
And doing 40-50 in a party environment will help you master your job more than 1-40 ever could because of the amount of abilities 40-50 has.
And it's in your best interest to learn your stuff there before going into endgame.

I quoted you but this is directed at most who get PL'd or are looking to get PL'd like i see people shouting.

Also, (not assuming this guy got PL'd but. lol i wouldn't doubt it). This may happen to you out of the sheer inexperience with your job.

I think you can get PLed post 40. I think it'd be in spiritbonding parties, or when linkshells used to take their 40s to the wolf camp in Natalan. Not sure about now a days but just a hunce.

Usually if someone can play, he can play either way, and if someone can't play, he can't play no matter what. I have never seen anyone who sucked at a job that could get better by spending more time EXPing on it.
