So all that grind is for something that will only be good in one patch? Seriously?Yeah..you might be kinda new to the whole Relic thing.
See, when 2.0 came out, certain groups of players complained that there was no "endgame thing" to work towards, so they added the first round of Relics (Excalibur, etc). It was a substantial grind because, well, that's what the player base wanted.
Of course, they released similar-but-different variations of this for 3.0, 4.0 and now 5.0 is getting "part 2" of what will probably be 4-5+ steps.
If you don't want or like grinding it... don't. There are other ways to get weapons that will be near to these in power and very often these are best-in-slot only the patch they release. (There is usually a pattern where it's something like Relic -> Raid, likely Eden Savage -> Relic -> Crafted or Tomestone -> Relic again.)
I've only just done Excalibur in 5.0 because I could 1-man blitz it..so it's not like you NEED a relic to do any casual content.

It's an option for people who don't want to do higher level content, want weapon glamours, want something that's decently viable before the next content drop, etc. If it doesn't seem appealing to you then don't do it. Not every piece of content in this game needs to be played by everyone.

Yeah I'd actually agree with this if Boring Korean Grinder MMO Instance Simulator wasn't taking more and more development time and resources away from the rest of the content with each expansion they invest into it.It's an option for people who don't want to do higher level content, want weapon glamours, want something that's decently viable before the next content drop, etc. If it doesn't seem appealing to you then don't do it. Not every piece of content in this game needs to be played by everyone.
If I wanted to farm field mobs for 500 hours I could do it without paying a sub.

Once they're finished the relic tends to be BiS for many jobs until around 5-6 levels into a new expansion. And again you don't have to do them. So they last for a good amount of time. The current step makes them even with the highest ilv you can get for a weapon which again is only as good until the next raid teir when the ilv will go up again. Which for now will be some time early December.
If you're this upset about something you don't have and is fairly easy to do compared to similar things in the past then oh boy do I have news for you. That's how the whole game is.
