Just wondering why Halloweens, which you don't even get time off for, is prioritized over Columbus day, which is a national holiday? What's the deal here? We could have an exploration themed Columbus day where we roleplay as conquistadors and claim lands for ourselves as an event dungeon. Don't really want to do the same trick or treat Halloweens event again and again. Feels like there is a war on Columbus Day even in Japan now. Also, if we celebrate Lunar New Year which is a Japanese/Korean/Chinese holiday, why can't we celebrate July 4th?

He actually sought to treat the natives with respect and restrain mistreatment against them, and was even a victim of a bigoted campaign against him by the Ku Klux Klan in the 1920s, because he was Catholic, Italian and sailed under the Spanish flag.

Columbus was so altruistic and loyal in his faith that a catholic fraternity by the name of "Knights of Columbus" that host fundraisers, altruistic events, food drives, blood drives, etc, was formed on his behalf, and still operate to this day.

You are correct. Read "Tree of Hate: Propaganda and Prejudices Affecting United States Relations with the Hispanic World". There was a concerted effort at the time to portray Spain as “cruel, bigoted, exploitative and self-righteous in excess of reality,” by the late ethno-historian Charles Gibson. The reason behind the propaganda at the time was due to the unintentionally combined efforts of the English and Dutch, who competed with Spain in settling the New World, and by Protestant antipathy toward Catholic Spain. Through that, the "La Leyenda Negra" was created (an unintentionally combined effort by the English and the Dutch) to portray spain as monsters.

We still need to colonize the new world in XIV. Then we can have a proper columbus day. I mean greedy folks from Ul'dah (see bluemage questline) are already trying to destroy the sacred land of the natives there cause they want their oil...eh...ceruleum. And that by tricking them with scummy cheap tactics.
