If you played on not a heavy populated server you wouldnt get 600+ queues.

I'm on one of the lowest population NA worlds. On the 13th, I tried logging in one minute after the servers came up. I was 987th in queue. I waited 14 minutes to get into the game. One of the other members of my FC tried logging in two minutes after I did. They were over 1300 in queue and had to wait 25 minutes to get in.
It's pointless (and ignorant) to tell a NA player they should have picked a lower population server when the lowest population servers in NA are also getting those queues and don't have available houses anymore than the server they are currently playing on. We don't control the number of servers available to us - SE does.
I'd bet money that if even you doubled the wards, you wouldn't put a dent in the housing problem because I suspect that a lot of the NA servers growth is from FFXIV absorbing WoW's population since Blizzard keeps doing dumb stuff, which is only going to make this problem worse in the short term. I'd like to think we're not going to have the long term retention issues because WoW:Retail is such an inferior game to both FFXIV and WoW:Classic.I'm on one of the lowest population NA worlds. Turn on the demolition timer for housing
It's honestly hard to say what the effect would be. Some worlds it could solve the problem but I doubt it would solve it on all worlds.I'd bet money that if even you doubled the wards, you wouldn't put a dent in the housing problem because I suspect that a lot of the NA servers growth is from FFXIV absorbing WoW's population since Blizzard keeps doing dumb stuff, which is only going to make this problem worse in the short term. But it would only be a temporary solution unless the player base stopped growing. The 4.2 wards seemed to be a solution at first. There were multiple NA worlds with hundreds of houses available for most of 2018. Then the player base started rapidly growing in 2019 and all those houses disappeared even before the data center reorganization could happen.
I hope Op realizes people camp plot in terms of minutes and the timer helps to extend the timer longer so more people have the chance to at least see an empty plot.
If the timer is removed, the only changes you are going to experience is instead of clicking on the placid for hours, you'd be clicking on the ward npc for hours. Both still requires you to spam.
Therefore timer or not, it really makes no difference lol It all comes down to rng.
Honestly the only option that works for new buyers is an auction system.
Update: come to think of it, spamming ward npc if the timer is removed is actually 100x worst. Before at least the timer gives you some idle time when it becomes available. Where as without the timer you will have to spam and check ward npc 24/7 haha
God bless mist plot 36 opened for relocation the day before patch 5.35 (assumed the previous owner transferred to a low pop server for a mansion) and I get to jack it with 0 require timer.

*wakes up at 5 am on an off work day and throws off blanket* "Oh boy, today's gonna be the day!" *logs onto ff14 and begins hunting through housing districts, one after another until a free small is spotted. Races to location, blood pumping hard until, with a sudden drop in bp, you see a small crowd camping a placard. Tries once to buy it (because who knows?) then finally starts prepping for a long day in front of the monitor doing nothing but repetitive clicking. "Junk food, check. Bathroom, good for now. Dog chucked outside, "She'll be fine..." and back to the computer.* *Several hours later and someone relocates to the camped plot* *Heartache, disperportioned fury, keyboard slapping, and the desire to try again warring with a fear of a second failure ensues* *To another player as everyone begins porting away, "Five hours wasted lol"* *Other player retorts with near audible sarcasm and disdain, "Just five hours? Weak. I've been here since midnight. You didnt even deserve that plot. Get recked."* *Logs off ff14 and onto WoW, "Maybe tomorrow will be the day after I get home from work. Yeah."*
I agree with OP, that timer is a nightmare from what I have seen, thank God I got a small house back in stormblood.
I miss the old days, you could buy a house from someone or just strait up by the empty plot without the way stuff is now.
Back when I use to have gil I would have gladly bought a place for a friend, can't do that now though.
This hit so hard lol. It took me a WEEK to get FC housing for myself and my friends, nonstop clicking on that placard from 9am to 9pm.*wakes up at 5 am on an off work day and throws off blanket* "Oh boy, today's gonna be the day!" *logs onto ff14 and begins hunting through housing districts, one after another until a free small is spotted. Every. Day.
I'm lucky to be an at home college student that has the ability to do so. I just had junk food and pot to help, with Game Grumps in the background playing. I feel for people that have to work and stuff, less time to 'compete'.
