*wakes up at 5 am on an off work day and throws off blanket* "Oh boy, today's gonna be the day!" *logs onto ff14 and begins hunting through housing districts, one after another until a free small is spotted. Races to location, blood pumping hard until, with a sudden drop in bp, you see a small crowd camping a placard. Tries once to buy it (because who knows?) then finally starts prepping for a long day in front of the monitor doing nothing but repetitive clicking. "Junk food, check. Bathroom, good for now. Dog chucked outside, "She'll be fine..." and back to the computer.* *Several hours later and someone relocates to the camped plot* *Heartache, disperportioned fury, keyboard slapping, and the desire to try again warring with a fear of a second failure ensues* *To another player as everyone begins porting away, "Five hours wasted lol"* *Other player retorts with near audible sarcasm and disdain, "Just five hours? Weak. I've been here since midnight. You didnt even deserve that plot. Get recked."* *Logs off ff14 and onto WoW, "Maybe tomorrow will be the day after I get home from work. Yeah."*

I agree with OP, that timer is a nightmare from what I have seen, thank God I got a small house back in stormblood.

I miss the old days, you could buy a house from someone or just strait up by the empty plot without the way stuff is now.

Back when I use to have gil I would have gladly bought a place for a friend, can't do that now though.

This hit so hard lol. It took me a WEEK to get FC housing for myself and my friends, nonstop clicking on that placard from 9am to 9pm.
    Every. Day.
I'm lucky to be an at home college student that has the ability to do so. I just had junk food and pot to help, with Game Grumps in the background playing. I feel for people that have to work and stuff, less time to 'compete'.

If the timer is removed, the only changes you are going to experience is instead of clicking on the placid for hours, you'd be clicking on the ward npc for hours. Both still requires you to spam.

Therefore timer or not, it really makes no difference lol It all comes down to rng.

Honestly the only option that works for new buyers is an auction system.

Update: come to think of it, spamming ward npc if the timer is removed is actually 100x worst. Before at least the timer gives you some idle time when it becomes available. Where as without the timer you will have to spam and check ward npc 24/7 haha

God bless mist plot 36 opened for relocation the day before patch 5.35 (assumed the previous owner transferred to a low pop server for a mansion) and I get to jack it with 0 require timer.
There was no rng timer before. I don't know why you say that.

This nightmare should not be there at all and what makes me pissed is they let it happen. I lost hope and interest since they don't seem to care and don't try to find a better and more friendly solution for the players. It's weird to see some players agreeing with this rng system too. I'm just playing other games now because i rather have fun than having to click because housing is one of the reasons i love ffxiv and i can't get one and worse by torturing players.

And yeah i agree with you. This shows how cruel it is. It's a fact it is, no matter what people try to say to make it reasonable and fair. It is not. Period.

Timer to put it simply, is also a fair system to avoid the people like post #43 and gave people an equal chance.
The timer should stays and the only improvement it need is to limit the chances each player can click in 30 mins
This would avoid people delveloped a sense of “entitlement” like OP did as she thinks she deserved the plot because she camp it. (Not being negative, it is common and unavoidably people will develope this sense of entitlement through their contribution)

What's wrong with buying a house for your friend?

I don't think he's saying buying a house for a friend is wrong. I think he's saying that the way it sounds like he was doing it is the reason why we have the timer. Buying a house from someone. Two people making a deal, with the buyer getting a house that never really hits the market. If that's what he's saying, then I agree. That's why we have the timer now.

I disagree and it is not a fair system, no matter what people try to say it is.

It's funny the way people say it is a fair system. It reminds me of Donald Trump saying everything is fine, there is nothing. Lol
