Trust NPCs don't assist player in combat under certain conditions in Heroes' Gauntlet

Date & Time: this will occur at any time but also technically occurred 2020-10-13 5:42 Pacific Daylight Savings Time
Frequency: every time that certain conditions occur (explained below)
    World name: Gilgamesh
    Character name: Jophia Krownlege
Retainer name: This does not involve my retainers
NPC name: Alphinaud, Urianger, Ryne, Y'shtola, Alisae
Monster name: Spectral Ink Mage, Spectral Bard, Spectral Dragoon
    Class/Level: Warrior level 80
    Party or solo: Trust Party
In-game time: I don't know, maybe 8:00 AM Eorzean Time
Area and coordinates: The Heroes' Gauntlet, Staoigh Creach, X: 12 Y: 12
Housing: This does not involve housing
    Steps:
    1. Be a Tank with a Trust NPC party consisting of any Trust Healer and any Trust DPS.
    2. Proceed through the dungeon "The Heroes' Gauntlet" with a Trust NPC Party until reaching the area "Staoigh Creach", located between the first boss (Spectral Thief) and the second boss (Spectral Necromancer).
    3. Complete the first "trash" pull (with Aenc Thon of the Lengthsome whatever), then cross the "flower bridge" thing to the second set of "trash" monsters.
    4. Activate the action "Sprint".
    5. Attack the two "Spectral Ink Mage" with two GCDs of your Tank AOE Combo (establishing Enmity against these targets).
    5. Continue running to the next set of monsters (three Spectral Bard and one Spectral Dragoon).
    6. As you do the previous step, multiple "friendly" NPC monsters will spawn and begin attacking the Spectral Ink Mages. These friendly NPC monsters include a named Treant, a named ... moss monster thing, and a named other thing that I can't remember (they are the three "adds" from the Titania Trial), as well as a generic "nu mou" and a generic "amaro" monster.
    7. One of these friendly NPC monsters might proceed to gain top Enmity against one of the Spectral Ink Mages, before the Spectral Ink Mage(s) finish casting and follow the player Tank to the second set of monsters (Dragoon and Bards).
    8. IF STEP 7 HAPPENS, the following consequences will occur: all three Trust NPCs will stop following the player Tank, and instead begin attacking the Spectral Ink Mage(s) that the friendly NPC monsters have top Enmity on. The Trust NPCs will then ignore anything involving the player Tank or the second set of monsters (Dragoon and Bards). The Trust Healer will NOT heal the player Tank, regardless of damage taken, and will allow the player Tank to die. The Trust DPS will NOT disengage from the Spectral Ink Mages to come assist the player Tank that is currently attacking the second set of monsters (Dragoon and Bards).
    9. If the player dies and returns again to the same set of monsters, the Trust NPCs will continue to ignore the Dragoon and Bard monsters, and not heal the player Tank, until either both Spectral Ink Mages are defeated, or the friendly NPC monsters attacking the Spectral Ink Mages have all been defeated.
    10. Additionally, if similar conditions to the above are recreated, but while the player is not a Tank and instead the Trust NPC Thancred is present, and one of the friendly NPC monsters has Enmity on EVEN ONE of the Spectral monsters, then Thancred will not take action to regain Enmity to himself. For example: The player pulls 2 Spectral Ink Mages, runs past them, and pulls 1 Spectral Dragoon and 3 Spectral Bards. The player runs back to Thancred. One of the friendly NPC monsters subsequently achieves top Enmity on ANY ONE of these 6 hostile monsters. Thancred will now do nothing to regain aggro on ANY of the 6 monsters, as long as ONE of them is currently attacking one of the friendly NPC monsters, even if the other FIVE are currently chasing down the player character and mercilessly beating them to death, and even if said player character being mercilessly beaten to death is patiently standing within melee range of Thancred.

Don't all the trust characters do single target attacks anyway? Why do multiple pulls instead of just letting them fight and defeat the two ink mages as they have been programmed to do?

Evidently they haven't been programmed to allow for the player going "off-script" and initiating multiple fights at once in an area with lots of moving parts.

Maybe they can fix it, but you might just have to learn to work with the confines of the AI and not pull the ink mages into the next part of the fight.
