Keep it all in one thread!!!!

Recent events on the forum also suggest that there might be some sort of breakdown between forum mod actions and what is actually ideal for the community. Is the locking of long constructive threads* how the forum should be operating, or is it moderation on par with punishing the people the tried to drown out a hateful thread instead of the poster being hateful, or letting an obvious troll continue to disrupt the forum for weeks when the rules and guidelines could easily be applied to stop him?

Since these things have happened, I can only wonder what else is going on behind the scenes and where there might be a breakdown of communication between the forum mods and the best interests of the company they work for or the community they support. Could the devs be unaware that the feedback threads are being shut down?
