I think once someone buys a house that should be it. No relocating or selling it or whatever. Too many people don’t have a house to allow for some to just move to whatever free plot they like while new players are camping it.

Nah relocating should be a thing, but if you a buy a plot you can't relocate for 14 days or something. thats the best thing to do.
I agree that auto-demolition needs to restart. It has been seven months. The pandemic is going to continue into next year. I don't mean to sound cruel but if you can't afford a FFXIV sub having an in-game house is the least of your troubles.
"The worst foe lies within the self."

Why are we discussing multiple avenues of punishing the players for working within this system when Square Enix could fix this by autoscaling their servers like MMOs with a much lower budget than this Small Indie Company can invest have done for almost a DECADE now?
Because it's far more likely that SE would implement a random little tweak to the system vs. completely overhauling it or adding an autoscaling feature. This game is filled with a ton of limitations, and a subpar housing system is just one of the more obvious.

No thanks. I understand the reason for this: to circumvent the minority of fake FCs so they can have more than one house.- No more "Free-Company Houses". All Houses should belong to a Player. In making this change, allow a Free Company to "tag" a member's house as "the Free Company house", allowing everyone to port to it. That way, Free Companies aren't sitting on additional houses. Otherwise, that still allows a single player to own two houses.
The downside to this would make it to where legitimate FCs residents, who have a purchased a room within the FC House (like me), will become homeless with our furniture out on the lawn. There are way more FC house residents then fake FCs out there. Imagine the impact to the market when all of us put our furniture up on the MB or sell it to vendors (more gil in circulation).
This is just a knee jerk reaction in response to a minority of players.

This is what I was thinking about, within an FC house there may be close to 100 or so people with individual rooms, people who would now have to either join the housing race to buy their own plot or just not have housing of any kind anymore. No thanks. I had waited 2 hours on one plot with another player just to see a total rando walk up to the plaque and place a house on a plot. I imagined this devaluation timer was specifically just so such cases wouldn't happen.
I now had just waited out a 6 hour timer on a different plot, only to see it RESET to another 6 hours. What is even going on? Do I literally have to camp a spot for 24 hours for a CHANCE to get a house? What's the point of the devaulation timer if it is not going to display correct information?

Devaluation timer =/= lockdown timer. The timer that's keeping you from buying a plot (because the plot has been vacated somewhat recently) is invisible.I had waited 2 hours on one plot with another player just to see a total rando walk up to the plaque and place a house on a plot. I imagined this devaluation timer was specifically just so such cases wouldn't happen.

So if I understood this right, the only way to get a plot is to literally spam the plaque with purchase requests hoping the invisible timer runs out?
