I for one would like to bring my retainer as my companionThis is a suggestion that would make me love the game more.
I generally play solo and while the chocobo is a good companion I can't help but feel we are missing out on another great companion. This has probably been suggested before, but please let me have a retainer as a companion I would love to fight along side my main retainer and would make my solo play more enjoyable.

Yeah that is literally what palico's do in MHW, if you're on the field with only 1 other player or solo, they join with you and can heal, or tank, or steal monster parts, while fighting the monster with you. Would really have loved to have customize it so it looked like my palico from MHW. In essence, theyre pretty much alot like the chocobo companions we have, you even level them up and gear them out in the other game.

I second the "I wish my Palico minion could've been my actual Palico" remark. I know why they couldn't—it would have been a ridiculous amount of work redoing the minion system—but still, it would've been awesome if I could've had Kaliko the calico Palico along with me.Yeah that is literally what palico's do in MHW, if you're on the field with only 1 other player or solo, they join with you and can heal, or tank, or steal monster parts, while fighting the monster with you. I do think having additional companions would be fun... but bringing in people would probably be tricky. The Squadron AI, as has been noted, is... uh... not good. The Trust AI is actually pretty good, but it's also very purposeful; they have to have the mechanics for each dungeon specifically coded into them, and I doubt they'd deal well with—for instance—a special FATE or a hunt target or, really, anything in the open world.
Maybe at least allow the amaro to be a companion once you gain the mount? Either just using the existing chocobo's stats, or being stabled and trained up the same way a chocobo would.
(I shall one day have the amaro, and I shall name him Skip. For reasons.)
I aim to make my posts engaging and entertaining, even when you might not agree with me. And failing that, I'll just be very, VERY wordy.Originally Posted by Packetdancer

Honestly would be cool to be able to use the chocobo stables or even have an amaro stables for them, as well as the coloring options etc. As it stands my chocobo been rank 20 since ARR, kinda sad to see the companion system be untouched since thenI second the "I wish my Palico minion could've been my actual Palico" remark.
