Hello. I really enjoy going to the Gold Saucer and grinding MGP. However there are some gripes I have that I would really love to see addressed.
Small-scale minigames
I rarely see anyone doing these. If I'm doing them, it's either to complete my challenge log or if I'm waiting for a Chocobo Race to queue. These mini-games aren't really worth the time compared to other things you could be doing, such as Triple Triad or the gathering minigames next to Minion Square. If I could have one request, I would ask to increase the prize money to make it a bit more worth the time. It's a little weird how Out on a Limb rewards hundreds of MGP while the other similar minigames only give out low-end double digits.
GATEs
This is kind of a big one for me, since these are the most enjoyable content in the Gold Saucer. First off, why is the instanced version of "Leap of Faith" so darn frequent?? I get that some people may enjoy it a lot but I don't. I've had it pop so many times in a row that I'm getting sick of it. Not only that, but it takes a long time to complete. I breath a sigh of relief if I see the non-instanced "Leap of Faith" because they're shorter and not as difficult (therefore more worth my time).
Also, I'm not enjoying how many instanced GATEs we're getting. One thing I like doing is to go to Gold Saucer while waiting for a Duty Finder queue to pop. But it seems like the majority of GATEs are instanced these days, preventing me from joining if I want to keep my spot in my queue. Can this be addressed?
Chocobo Races
I despise Chocobo Racing, which is a shame because it could be so much more. First and foremost before I get to my other gripes with it, it is simply not worth doing at all (past the first couple of challenge log entries) because the amount of MGP you spend on Chocobo training is more than the amount you earn from the races themselves. Can the amount of MGP being spent/earned be adjusted so it's actually worth doing?
Secondly, the mini-game is far too difficult. In order to consistently get first place you need to know exactly what you're doing, what stats to use, what abilities and items to go for, etc. It's definitely not casual friendly which is what I assume the Gold Saucer is for. Compound this with the fact that you're not even getting any MGP for it and it's just aggravating to me.
Third, the abilities and items in the game are very unbalanced. It's hard to know which items are useful and which aren't until you use them (multiple times for some) and it's really disappointing when you get something that is not useful. For example the item that prevents another player from using their item is useless because they'll just use their item anyway after their debuff expires. Now this point isn't as severe as the first two, but it's still something that annoys me so I thought I'd mention it.
Triple Triad
I see that there are some updates coming to this minigame which makes me super happy to see, but I will still mention my gripes just in case they aren't addressed in the next major update.
My first gripe: 4 star cards are actually useless. It always upsets me how I have so many 4 star cards that I would like to use, but can't because I can only have one card higher than 3 stars. This leads to tournaments feeling exactly the same as each other. Every player has four 3 star cards that have two 8's, and one 5 star card they use at the end (Ardbert or Therion). A lot of these matches come down to luck or a tie which doesn't help your final rankings much.
Second gripe: Some of these cards are extremely hard to get. I'm not just talking about doing some content that is difficult, I'm talking about doing content that is outdated, over and over again, for a chance at getting the card you want. Three examples I can think of off the top of my head are Progenitrix, Fat Chocobo, and, to a lesser extent, the cards you unlock from doing Eureka. If you could add an alternative way to obtain cards from outdated content, that would be amazing.
Lord of Verminion
I'm not sure what you could do to fix this minigame, but it's no secret that only a handful of people actually enjoy it and hardly anyone even does the Challenge Log for Lord of Verminion. Despite that, I do appreciate every new minion still coming with stats so they can be used here. If there could be some quality of life updates to make it easier to play, I think it could go a long way.
Doman Mahjong
Just one thing really: please add an interactive tutorial! I understand this game is popular in Japan but hardly any Westerners play it. Because of this it's really hard to get the Challenge Log entry complete because it's difficult to find any player matches. At the very least, if adding an interactive tutorial is too difficult or time consuming, please allow the Challenge Log to include AI matches rather than just player matches.
Thank you for your consideration.
