PS4 to PS5 opinions please

Hi all
Just would like your opinions on this. I have a PS4 and I'm wondering about getting or not getting the the PS5. I've read about the PS5 and all it's got and after thinking about it I think it would be a waste for me.
I basically only play 2 games on it, FF14 and ESO. I know it's going to have some better graphics but I'm wondering if you think it would be worth the money.
I'm going to do a complete wipe on this one, get a new email, probably a game card and a complete new name and address and start from new.

Do you agree or not?

Me personally, I'm not getting the new hardware at launch.

Sony has a history of having buggy launches on their hardware, not to mention they often do upgrades to the hardware not too long after launch offering, at the very least, more hard drive space. Plus it's usually not worth buying the hardware until the library of playable games makes it worth it to pick up.

As far as when it comes to FFXIV, we don't even know if the game will be updated for PS5 at all yet, though it's unlikley as PlayStation is no longer what's holding back what the game can do. Additionally we don't yet know from Sony's end if the PS4 version will be playable on the PS5 (though it's pretty safe to assume it will be as they stated the "vast majority" of games from PS4 will be playable in PS5)

If I were in your position, I would wait until the buggy consoles move out of the market, and until you get confirmation that either or both games you play on it will be getting an upgrade to the new system before investing in it.

SE gave plenty of time before for players to upgrade to PS4 from 3, so I imagine they would do the same thing and announce when it's available to everyone. For now don't worry about getting PS5 on launch unless you really need it immediately for some reason, give it some time, it'll go down in price no rush.

I plan on getting PS5 for one simple reason and that is FF16. Given that we don't have a release date yet for FF16 and since I always don't buy first batches of a new generation (as wereotter replied above, I'd rather see the performance and technical issues before buying), I won't be getting the PS5 anytime soon. I see Spiderman Remaster and Godfall as other reasons, but those games can wait. So given those reasons, I will eventually buy, but there's no hurry for me to do so. I even became more convinced not to buy yet since FF14 has not yet been announced for PS5 and I plan to continue playing FF14. I play ESO too, but with that game in limbo to PS5 after the Bethesda acquisition, it became one less reason to rush buying.

No I don't really need it, I'm in no rush. I just don't want to spend the money for it unless it's really worth it.
Rasler_Heios that's me FF14 and ESO. I just want to make sure It's worth getting. I'm retired so I can spend the first two months reading about all the problems.

I'm waiting a year or two for an updated version that fixes whatever catastrophic design oversight slips into the launch model. And until there's something exclusive to PS5 that I want to play.

Ps3 version was around until SB launched, PS4 version will most likely be supported until 8.0 at the earliest if the game even goes that far.

They may even skip PS5 only support and just make a new MMO on PS5/6. Who knows at this point really, we are talking years away from now for no more PS4 general game support let alone FFXIV support which they will tell you long ahead of when upgrading would be needed, check there will be multiple upgrade campaigns if they fully intend to drop PS4 until you see the devs saying upgrade your console don't worry about getting the new console if nothing interests you.

It is going to take me until June next year to save up for a PS5 at the earliest and I could sure as heck run into needing to spend extra cash elsewhere in that time that pushes that date back, the devs are going to wait until PS4 playerbase is far smaller than is worth and it'll take a few years for that to come close to happening.

I've learned my lesson with playstation. Never buy the first version. Wait a little while for an updated version that will fix some issues and/or have better hardware, slimmer design. Most likely it will be cheaper as well.

Its going to be a very long time before they drop ps4 support, earliest would be around 7.0 which is in like 2-3 years. As for ffxiv on ps5 devs mentioned we will be getting an official version later on, current guess 6.0 launch, but we currently havent gotten any info if there will be a backwards compatible version, maybe they'll say something about it during the live letter later tonight.

I’ll buy the slim version.
The original version always had a lot of problems since ps3.
