Can we please get aggro management back?

Holding aggro doesn't mean much anymore nowadays. I'd like to return to having both a tank stance or dps stance, and actually having to pay attention to the aggro list, instead of just popping tank stance and forgetting about it. What does everyone else think? Should we go back to a similar tanking system that Stormblood had?

Back when aggro management was "Turn on tank stance, use your aggro combo once, turn off tank stance and use dps rotation only for the rest of the fight." When everyone is told to play like that, its no wonder things ended up as they did. Players complain about problems that they themselves created.

Threat was already nearly entirely vestigial come Stormblood. You pulled with tank stance and did maybe one or two threat comboes and then you went full dps mode.

Tanks stances were just something SE had an idea for, and it literally never worked out like they wanted it to.

The only time threat mattered is on openers where people forgot to use diversion(Which really isn't that interesting of a gameplay addition), or on aggro resets(In which Exdeath murders the white mage) where you throw a shield lob or equivalent and proceed as normal.

    1) Spend as little time as possible with tank stance ON
    2) Switch to DPS stance because DMG is what really matter
    3) Yell on your DPS because they don't use the true aggro management tool AkA Lucid Dream/Diversion
    4) If they say something stupid like "cooldown" or "aggro reset" ignore them because you are the GLORIOUS TANK and you can't be wrong

So yeah, no, i don't think i want Stormblood aggro management where DPS and heal actually do the aggro management instead of the tank

Yeah, I agree that the threat system in Stormblood (and you can even argue throughout FFXIV) was flawed, but I'd gladly take what Stormblood had over just pushing one button and forgetting about it. At least there was SOMETHING. And not to mention the other effects the tank stances had, such as Warrior's increased health and health restoration from magic or Paladin's 20% or something damage received down.

People never used diversion ever, a few agro combos was not enough to keep agro.

Threat Management hasn't been a thing since The Burning Crusade. Let it be dead.

I wish they made aggro management more complex, and dynamic. Though at the very least since I have been playing aggro management has been overall nonexistent, maybe it "could" have been a issue when you ran into a group that refused to use aggro dumps and as a tank you were pushing for max spa. Though even then aggro management was not so much an issue from a tank perceptive in the eyes of the devs since we had tank stance, only was an issue when the tank wanted to do max dps and the their team could not be bothered to use aggro dumps and forced the tank to use an extra aggro combo.

In short SE will not give tanks more personal responsibility in the form of more dynamic and active aggro control for the same reason they will not give healers more doses options. They feel making the easier less to manage will make it more welcoming.

    Why?

If it's to bring complexity to tanks, I rather focus on adding depth to their kit. As a WAR main I feel like we could use a little more nuance, for example, but I rather that be done with ways that suit the job. Enmity stuff created a burden of more buttons for what was ultimately a shallow outcome.

    Threat management: Yes
    Tank stances: No

I liked aggro combos. It gave another skill branch, additional animations, and the ability to mix up openers depending on what you were fighting. Granted, my tanking experience is solely with DRK, but the simplification of aggro management has taken away a good portion of engagement with enemies. However, I do get that modern tanks need to focus on mitigating damage as much as possible, and I would surmise that the current status of tanks is more meta driven than dev. When players basically say, "Eff tank stance, mas deeps!" all I can say is that I'm not surprised.
