Getting better gear for a new player

Hey! I just started playing last week and am already level 36. My gear for my WM class isn’t around my level though. Are there any other ways, or quests that’ll allow me to get gear equal to my level?

Side note: I am pretty far behind on my story missions too which might be the case, but just wondering any tricks or tips.

Main/side quests and dungeons should supply you gear all the way to level cap for the most part. All story related dungeons will give you one piece at the end as a direct drop guaranteed on top of whatever you get in the chests. Outside of that its crafting your own if you are leveling your crafters, the auction house and npc vendors.

As a general rule, you only need gear equal to the level of the quests you are doing. You don't need Lv35 gear unless you've unlocked the optional Qarn dungeon and are running levelling roulette (although that will get you even more overlevelled) or if you're doing your job quests.

It's worth checking the market board (not auction house - we don't have one) to see if there's cheap gear on there - often it's more expensive than buying gear from NPCs, but if it's a piece that is a quest reward then it might be oversupplied and cheap.

Try to keep up with the story quests as much as possible though - they unlock prettymuch everything in the game beside a few optional dungeons. You may also want to level a second class so you can put some EXP into each.

As other said, gear only for the quest level, side quests can help but if you're looking for specific gear the Market Board (in each major hub/Housing) is where it's at. I'd love to meet up in game as I probably have some old gear laying around I could just dump on you
