A little QOL request, please disable Retrieve Materia until Extract Materia has been used. I always get a bit sweaty when extracting on a pentamelded set knowing both options are there.

Or, hear me out: You can pay attention to the option you select and to the confirmation window that comes up when you select it. =O
They should honestly just rename "Retrieve Materia" to "Remove Materia" and that would make it a billion times better.. I dont know why its worded like it is now honestly..
It's a hold over from when they were named retrieve materia and materia assimilating so there wasn't confusion. They changed the latter to extract materia when they changed how spiritbond works and so it became confusing because they now sound synonymous. If it helps, I like to think of it this way: retrieve implies getting something back from the item that you previously had while extract implies getting something completely new out of it.
Or, hear me out: You can recommend the Materia Extraction button, under Actions and Traits -> General, which is risk free and helpful instead of being a sarcastic jerk for upvotes.
Darsien is not wrong tho. Also, even with your recommendation, some people will still say it's confusing

I've recently discovered the "customise subcommand menu" setting and you can move commands to a second tier of menu instead of having them immediately visible in the list. I did that with the Retrieve command to hide it since I'll only need it rarely and not in a hurry.
Feels like the option to make materia from spiritbond should be "Create Materia" or something.
"Extract" is accurate though - you're drawing out the spiritbond energy from the item so it coalesces into materia... I suppose that's technically creating it, but the implication doesn't ring quite right to me.
The best equivalent I can think of is that saying you "create" the materia would be like filling a glass with water and then saying you created a glass of water. You didn't create or transform any of the components, just moved them from A to B.
Or perhaps a better analogy would be wringing water out of a wet cloth and saying you created water by doing that.
