Lets talk about the FFXIV player base..

You're joking right? I've never played a team based game that didn't involve blaming someone else nearly every match besides Overwatch.

Anyone watching can see it's often the person doing the blaming that isn't trying to get better and isn't trying to learn.

Perhaps you've misunderstood. I'm not talking about blame. I'm talking about refusal to get better or carry one's weight. That sort of thing is seen as selfish or as trolling in most other games. From other MMOs, to competitive team games, to non-competitive team games, the severity of the issue in FFXIV is unique.

But please also refer to my most recent post in regards to many defending the game and the community from criticism. You've helped me re-enforce the point, so thank you for that. You both have either employed sarcasm or tried to attack a point I did not make. Wonder if we'll get a third before page 2.

I don't think I misunderstood. Every team based game I've played had people blaming others to cover up their own weakness, competitive or not. You can try to take my reply as defending XIV but it's being taken the wrong way.

Look through my post history - I've done a lot of complaining about XIV's faults. This isn't much different from any other team based game IMO.

I've made my point and clarified it for you and I'm now telling you that you're misunderstanding my point. In no way did I mention blaming others for their own weaknesses. I've said that people outright refuse to get better or carry their own weight/do the minimum/etc., those things are not attributable to blaming another player for those shortcomings.

I can't make it any more clear for you. Further misrepresentations on what I'm saying will be ignored.

People generally blame because they're not pulling their weight and aren't improving themselves. It's all the same.

You have the tryhards complaining that take the game too seriously too, but that's another matter.

It's not the same, no. One is shifting focus from their own play to another. The other is willfully refusing to improve, regardless on the cost it has on other players. This is the main difference between NA/EU and Elemental, Gaia, and Mana. Not pulling your weight, wasting people's time, and/or contributing your fair share is seen as a negative at a cultural level. Conversely, combat content there typically goes much more smoothly, to the point where even savage can be done in Duty finder. If you'd like, I could pull an articule on Asian culture and on analysis within FFXIV to back this up.

It's not the same, though I can now draw a new parallels: You're projecting your method of dealing with criticism right now by shifting the blame from a mentality issue to a malicious one. Because this is how you personally handle criticism, everyone must, right? It's all the same? Nah. I am sorry you're so far gone.

As for tryhards, that's an interesting take against people who do care about their performance and "taking a game too seriously." Historically, people who use "tryhards" in this context are the worst of the worst, attributing good play to a negative simply because they don't see the point.

I have seen this behavior in ALL MMOs that I've played to varying degrees. WoW is very similar to FFXIV, EQ was less so, but still had some. EQ2 was better than WoW but worse than EQ. Rift was similar to WoW and FFXIV. It's people, not the game. The same goes for criticizing, they all have their levels of white knighting.
