Let’s be real: FFXIV has way too many confirmation windows in places that absolutely do not need them. To make matters worse, the default option for most of these windows is annoyingly set to “No” instead of “Yes,” so you can’t just keep pressing whatever hotkey you have set as Confirm – instead, you have to move the cursor over to “Yes” and select it each and every time. Here is a screenshot of what I consider to be some of the most egregious offenders:
As I'm sure you're aware, there are many places where the only reason you would ever be at the door is to enter/leave that instance. The Waking Sands, the Rising Stones, and houses are some of the best examples. Why else would I be down in the basement of that building in Western Thanalan other than to visit the Waking Sands, for example? Yet, for some inexplicable reason, the game assumes that even though I walked all the way out there, selected the door, and pressed the Confirm button once, it still needs to ask me if I want to enter. On top of that, it assumes that I do not want to enter. You can go from zone to zone normally just by walking up to the dotted line – why do we have all of these extra steps for buildings?
Another annoying one is extracting materia. This no longer destroys your gear, and having it spiritbonded literally provides no advantage, so why does it need to ask you whether you (and assume that you do not) want to extract materia?
The same thing goes for repairing – if I’ve opened up the repair window, I probably want to repair my gear. Why ask me again or assume that I do not want to repair it?
The mini-cactpot? Same thing. It takes all of 10 seconds to play and you’re guaranteed to come out with more MGP than you went in with. Why do you need to ask me this and assume I don’t want to play?
Aetheryte tickets too. I almost hate using them because it slows the process down. When you’re doing hunt trains during really busy times, this can make the difference between getting into a congested zone and being locked out until after one of the hunt monsters is already dead.
It would be really nice if SE could either do away with these confirmation windows or, at the very least, make the default option “Yes” instead of “No.”
