Windows Vista really isn't all that bad, was bad on release, but is a fully capable operating system.

That said, vista does use a lot of resources, making it a RAM hog. I reccomend Gamebooster for that, as it will help quite a bit on that department. It also has a nifty little feature that can scan your devices and see if there are newer drivers avaialble. (which is great for great overall system performance) Its free and I've been using it for a while now. http://www.freenew.net/windows/game-...3-1/544431.htm

I also agree with most of the above poster's settings, except for texture quality. On a mobile GPU, specifically the 9800m gs I would set that to standard at the very least, and low or lowest if you need more speed. After this, you could prolly bump up general drawing quality up to standard (8) and have not much, if any impact on performance.

For drivers, I would reccomend using the latest drivers that are compatible with your graphics card. Nvidia has a scan tool on their website www.geforce.com

And for SSD, you really wouldnt see much of a difference in games. I run my boot drive on an SSD and run FFXIV from it and the only benefit is slighty faster loading times (I pop into instances before everyone else does) other than that, no benefit. (Although I must say for everything else outside of games, they are amazing!) The real issue at hand is that you are trying to run this heavy resource hog of a game on a laptop and although its possible, you will need to do some tweaking to get the best performance from your laptop to get it really playable.

Believe it or not, I've gotten this to play on a laptop with a Centrino Pentium M and Nvidia 6200 GPU, wasnt pretty, but it worked.
