I think they tried to look at the bigger picture. No matter what changes they made and are going to make they are going to make some people upset. That's just the way of things. If I were to guess, they weren't satisfied with the number of people participating in gathering and crafting. Did the changes make me want to take part in crafting and gathering more than I do already? Eh, not really. It just made my beast tribe/Ishgardian Restoration grinds a bit less painful. But I'm sure it gave some people incentive to really give it all a go.

Despite the protests of some, I actually did take a couple of things away from the interview. As someone who is only tangentially interested in PvP but as a more fast paced, casual thing, it's nice to see them acknowledging this brings more people to the mode and that they have some sort of plans to address PvP in coming updates (hopefully with the more fast, casual elements front and centre). I appreciated them acknowledging that while the content itself is enjoyable, constantly releasing it on a very set and strict schedule can actually make good content boring and predictable. They also say that they are considering making changes to this even if it might be uncomfortable for the team.

I also quite liked the reiteration that the sort of content delivery and "endgame" in FF14 is not likely to change. I like that I can enjoy FF14 by playing it a couple of hours a day and/or a bit more on weekends without really missing out. I like that I don't have to make the game a job and do every single bit of content in the game to feel like I'm "progressing." I also quite like the statements about the devs confirming that not all content is intended for every single player to enjoy. Neither of these points is anything new but it's nice to see them restated, again, for the players who love to whine and complain when a new feature isn't exactly something they personally find enjoyable. Frankly, the devs know this already, and they don't care. Like it or lump it, but they're not designed the game for "you."

First of all, I’d like to point out that the development team and I don’t have the mindset of trying to force people to play all types of content that we bring to the game, and by this I don’t mean just crafting and gathering.

Something that stuck out to me, given that people keep asking why they haven't released the relic grind yet...

Larger projects such as streamlining of the storyline and adding flying to A Realm Reborn areas can take anywhere from nine to even twelve months, where our staff find time in between working on core patch content to get them done. Some other examples include the World visit system, cross-World party finder, and the Bozjan Southern Front (coming in Patch 5.35).
Unless it's been confusingly translated, this seems to imply that the Bozjan Front is "non-core patch content" that they work on when they can find the time after everything else is ready.

Yeah, I think "core patch content" is just regular content that people already expect from expansion to expansion, like MSQ and dungeon/trial/raid. Bozja is an optional content in Shadowbringers that people won't expect in the next expansion.

I mean, people also expect relics. I think it's silly to not include them in what they deem as essential content. They would also benefit from implementing the relic grind much sooner since it helps with player retention.

While I cannot give a specific date on when personal housing will be implemented, I can say that prices will be completely separate from free company housing, and, naturally, far more affordable.

Yeah, relic, but not necessarily a new exploration zone like Eureka and Bozja. In fact, even if we know another like it is coming next expansion, we still won't be able to predict a patch for it like we can for raid and alliance raid. But who knows, this kind of content (and Ultimate) could become a core content and have fixed patch release within an expansion.

    Not going to happen.
The questions you are asking are micro level that impact maybe less than 1% of player base
Not every Viera or Hrothgar really care about hairstyle you know
Yet the questions asked are totally worthless when it comes to the useful information. Felt more like a small talk instead of interview

Before the expansion started, they said a few times they weren't certain where to go with healers and healer balance. That's why we didn't get a 4th healer class this expansion.

Since then, we've gotten some strong hints that a 4th healer class is coming next expansion. I would expect the healer questions to get answered when it's introduced.

Again, the questions asked involved matters that people have voiced opinions/concerns about.
