Few Questions About Various Things (FC Estate vs /Gil, OTP Website, Useful resources)

    tldr;
    1. Is there a way I can activate some sort of "remember this pc" feature so that I don't need to continually re-enter my OTP for mogstation etc
    2. Any recommended resources I should be checking out?
    3. Is it possible to farm enough gil to be able to purchase a plot with this short amount of time? (poor/3 players/not 80 yet)

I'm a relatively new player, I started almost about a month ago now. I just had a few questions that I wasn't able to figure out on my own. For each question, I tried to add info cause I thought it might be helpful, but I wrote the questions prefaced by a bold "Question"

    1. I have the SE Token app for the One-Time Passwords and I dislike how whenever I want to check out something on say mogstation, I need to enter my OTP in.
Question: Is there a way I can activate some sort of "remember this pc" feature so that I don't need to continually re-enter my OTP for mogstation etc.?

    2. I feel as though there's SO MUCH information to know about this game. I've got some websites that I use as references/looking things up but was wondering if there was anything you could think of that might be useful for me to look at. I enjoy all aspects of the game so far. I like DoW/DoM + DoH/DoL and also into Glamour/Minion/Mount collecting, etc. Any resource you think was useful to you would be appreciated.
Question: Any recommended resources I should be checking out?
These are the websites I've bookmarked:

    - ffxivguild (although I dislike how extremely slow every page loads, but I use it mostly to look things up for crafting/gathering)

    - akhmorning (I main SMN so I like to look over that guide)

    - ffxivcollect and apkallufalls (to search for minions/mounts/titles/etc that i want)

    - latetothepartyfinder (pretty detailed guides about various things)

    3. Lastly, I didn't realize that estates would be so expensive and scarce. I'm on Cactaur and every plot is taken but I read that they're adding 3 more wards on Oct. 13 so I'm very excited about that. I'm in a FC with friends and we're a very small FC and all new to the game. I know estates can go anywhere from 4-50mil but I definitely want to take advantage of this opportunity even though it's less than 2 weeks away. There are some some concerns I have about not being able to get enough gil in time:

    - We just started Shadowbringers MSQ last night so we're not 80 yet

    - There's only 3 of us playing atm, other friends are taking a break due to various reasons

    - The 3 of us are pretty broke atm. I think I might be the richest atm with ~800k

Question: Is it possible to farm enough gil to be able to purchase a plot with this short amount of time?

Anyways, that's all the questions I had, I apologize that they're all over the place and fairly long, but I really appreciate you for taking the time to read and help me out!

    1. I don't have an answer on this.

    2. I use Gamer Escape for a lot of general info. Mainly to look up where to get an item. I used to also look up what items could be crafted in to, but the game has that feature now.
I also pull up MTQCapture guide videos pretty frequently on YouTube.
FFXIVCollect has some useful info and lists. It helped me figure out what mounts could be farmed.
FFXIV.EorzeaCollection is a great site for getting glam ideas.
En.FF14Housing lets you easily view housing stuff. I reference it a lot when decorating.
Housing Snap is just a neat place to see really cool FF XIV housing.
Everything else I just Google or ask in the FC.

    3. To make money, stay on top of your retainers. Look up what sells well (minimum 300 gil per item) and send your retainer out as much as possible. Stop what you're doing and send them out again. If making gil is your top priority then spend time with a DoL class a lot.
Also make sure to run all your roulettes as a needed class.
Party maps also pay off big. You can DoL them, but you can also just buy them off the MB and have a pretty good shot at profiting.

For that size FC, a small cottage will be fine. You can always relocate to an empty house or mansion later on.

On your first question, no, it's not possible, as that is the nature of the beast. The One-time Password is exactly that - every time you have to login you have to enter the new OTP as it is it's whole purpose, having a second randomly generated password that is only usable briefly gives an added layer of security that is designed to overcome normal passwords being stolen (because the amount of combinations is random, it's extremely difficult for a hacker to crack, and if they manage to steal your normal password and login and the current OTP you used, they still won't be able to get in the next time because the OTP has changed).

It's just something that you have to deal with (you should be disable the OTP on the SE Account Management System for your account if you are having problems with it).

For your first question, no you can't. It's right there in the name. And it's like that by design. With saved passwords, it's possible someone could get ahold of your password in some way. But with the one time passwords, they are generated every time you want to log in, so they can't be found out and used elsewhere. It's understandably tedious, but it's for the safety of your account.

    1. Already answered.

    2. It depends on what parts of the game you get into. Theres a terrific gardening site, but if you dont have a house its worthless to you(and even if you do, many people never touch their gardens let alone try complicated multi-step plant crossbreading). Garlond Tools is a good one for crafting, gathering, and items.

    3. Is it possible? Yes. It will require some work and maybe a bit of luck. So im going to write this assuming that you+friends are trying to get an fc house, rather then personal plots. So your FC needs 4 or more members, it needs to be rank 6 or higher, and whoever does the purchasing has to be of a rank with purchase/relinquish land authorization. If you are literally just you 3 then get another player or one of you make an alt and invite them to hit 4 members. If you arent rank 6, you need to grind that out ASAP. Next, does your group have a member with reliable internet who can be online right when the servers go up? Some of the smaller population servers will take days or weeks to sell out of the newly offered homes. A busy american server could be sold out in under half an hour. So, do you have someone? If no, you can still do the rest of the steps but if youre hoping to still find something for sale in the evening after work prepare to be disappointed. It isnt impossible, but i wouldnt call it likely. Now pool your money(keep enough for teleports and repairs, but the more money everyone can contribute the easier this will be). You can get a small up and running for 3-4 million - so this is your goal. In the future if you outgrow the small you can always try to upgrade, but for now you want a bankroll close to 4 mil. It may seem backwards, but i would check out lots next. Knowing exactly what youre fighting for can keep you motivated. Cactaur is a fairly populous server, so you will have competition. Itll be highest in shirogane, medium in lavender and mist, and lowest in the goblet. But as people miss out on their dream plots, they will quickly adjust and start snapping up the less desirable plots in the lesser districts just to make sure they arent missing out. Use these maps as a general guideline as to where people will target. These maps are actually the price maps for each zone, but they give you a rough idea of popularity too. Grade 1's are the most expensive, so if you find a grade 4 or 5 you like you stand to save(and thus need less to raise) half a million or more compared to a grade 1 or 2.

Now you know how much you need to raise. The next step is the trickiest. You need to assess the market on your server, and the capabilities the 3 of you have. Do any of you have gathering or crafting classes leveled you could leverage for some income? Are your retainers high enough level to bring back decent things to sell? Do you have higher then one would expect levels in PotD/HoH/Eureka? Do the 3 of you work well enough as a team to try farming out some random drops to sell? Are you lucky? Crafters and gatherers i wont focus on - you just need to find something that sells reliably for an ok price, and get/make it. This will be different on every server though, so you would have to solve the problem on cactaur. High level retainers are the same deal - see what they can bring back, what its worth, and pick the best option. Farming drops of course requires luck. Your best hopes for quick cash would probly be minions like a Calimari or White Whittrett(currently selling at 2 and 4 mil on my server). If you have unexpectedly high side-content levels(unlikely, but worth mentioning), you could try for mounts like the dodo or eurekan patrel(currently 7 and 4 mil) - but as new players im doubting you have said levels. After mini farming would be mat farming - this means extreme trials. Of the level 60 ones, nidhogg scales are probly worth the most. If you can get into farming the 70s, then shinryu tsuko or any of the 4 lords are your best bets. And i keep asking if youre lucky. Treasure maps reward the lucky. Some of the rarer drops from the level 50 maps are still worth something, but for fast cash you probly want to get into the map dungeons. Uznair if you can hack it, aquapolis if not. Dragonskin maps give you a shot at aquapolis. A few of the drops are still valuable, and i wish you good luck in getting them. You also get bonus gil(each of you) for each floor you can clear. Gazelleskin maps are for uznair, and this place has more drops that are still valuable - and the bonus gil should be higher too. Again, these will require luck and good teamwork - they cant be unsync'd and its random how many floors you can get through on any given trip. Larger groups have an easier time, but you only want to bring friends if you can help it to keep as many of the rewards as possible.

Beyond all that, you can check if any poetics/GC seal mats are worth selling. Complete as many challenge log entries as you can for those bonus 10ks. Take out your weekly b ranks(you have 30k+ sitting there for the taking). If you have time, do your daily hunts for ARR, HW and StB. If you manage all 35 targets thats 42k per day for each of you. Plus another 5k per day if you can do all 5 of the first tier of ShB daily hunts(10 days of just these hunts from each of you would add up to 1.5 mil). If you can run any roulettes as the class in need, do it for the extra cash. If you unlocked doman restoration, get your bonus gil from them. And then beyond all that, try to spend as little as you can. Use aetheryte tickets to teleport for free if you can. Do your own repairing if possible. Keep unneeded purchases to a minimum.

So i just wrote a whole lot. Somewhere in there you might find a roadmap that works for you to get housing cash. If you cant make it(maybe the 3 of you dont play enough or something comes up), dont lose heart. They will add more housing again at some point in the future, which gives you enough time to save up the money easily. Maybe even enough to chase after a medium or larger house(8-50+ mil) if you dont mind the added competition for plots. Best of luck!

Also if you have some friends in-game it might be possible for you to borrow a bit of gil. Generally 4-5m isn't that much to a veteran player and they won't mind you repaying them later.

Like the person above said, you most likely will need to have someone up for the server reboot. In addition to that. Make sure they rehearse navigating through the menus, and which ward/plot they want. It's a total feeding frenzy on reboot and the faster you are the better. Because you guys will most likely be aiming for a small you should be pretty safe, but large and mediums will be gone within the first 5-10mn

The websites I usually use to check for various information about the game are:
    https://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/wiki/Main_Page - General information
    https://ffxiv.consolegameswiki.com/wiki/FF14_Wiki - General information
https://en.ff14housing.com/ - Housing decoration - less needed now that we have a preview function
    https://www.ffxivgardening.com/ - Gardening

In my experience gamerescape is the best general source of information, but it is not perfect so sometimes one has to look in other places as well.

Thanks to everybody who replied. I replied very late but I did read everything not long after most were posted.

@Scottdoom - I still haven't gotten around to checking out MTQCaptures videos but I really like the Eorzea Collection and Housing Snap sites! Thanks a bunch

@Frizze - I've fallen in love with Garlond Tools after seeing your post. It has almost everything I need, no more having to tab between multiple windows

I really appreciate the in depth info about housing. Currently our FC has a total of 10 people but only 3 of us are really ever on. We're at rank 12 now and thanks to Covid leaving my jobless, I'll be the one logging on in the morning to try to snag a plot of land. It's a bit sad to read that shirogane will have the highest competition but also very understandable. I think shirogane is our preferred but ultimately we'll be happy as long as we can snag anything.

I mentioned your suggestion about checking out plots and the guildies and I are going to do so sunday assuming we manage to raise enough money. 4 mil sounds pretty tough but so far between me and 1 guildie, we have about 2.5 mil so far and the other guildmate just found a Hedgehoglet while we were running maps and it's listed at around 1.3mil and selling fairly well so we have our fingers crossed.

All 3 of us have fairly high crafting professions but none of them are 80 yet. I have the highest retainers at lvl 70 but havent been able to get their iLvl high enough but that's something I'm currently working on without spending gil. I think I'm the only one that doens't have at least 2 crafters that are lvl 70+ but I'll be catching up soon. We've been 3-manning Uznair fairly easily except our rng stinks, I think we've ran about 20 maps so far but we always get kicked out after the 2nd-3rd round.

I appreciate you taking the time to write all of that out, it really helped with finding a direction to make gil.

@EaMett - unfortunately we don't know anyone but I think we've made pretty decent progress so far, a little over halfway there in terms of gil

@MistakeNot - thanks for the websites! I stumbled upon gamerescape and consolegamewikis but I've bookmarked the housing and gardening sites! Hopefully I'll be able to use them soon

If the mini doesnt sell and time is running out theres a trick you can try. Put up a PF group(in the other category please) advertising that youre selling it for less then the MB price. You might be encouraged to haggle a little(your choice), but it can work to draw attention to the item and maybe speed up the process. As of this writing you still have 4+ days, so more maps, more hunt bills, more whatever was working. And yeah, Uznair(any map dungeon honestly) rng can be the worst. But it only has to pay off big once, and youre all set. And even if you never hit big, hitting medium and small enough times will still get you to your goal. Youre basically 2/3 of the way there already, so dont give up.

As for plots, i cant tell you where to want to live. I can advise touring all 4 districts before you make up your mind. If Shiro is Plan A, then plan it out well. Like Eamett said, practice the route, practice the menuing, be ready. That also means have the cash on your character, download the patch early, log out at the ferry NPC on the docks in one of the wards(the aetheryte in kugane will likely be too laggy), turn down graphics setting before you log out the night before, set your status to /busy, and be ready to pivot if someone beats you to your first choice. Worst case scenario, you want to end up with something. That will allow you to relocate your house in the future when a better plot opens up. Even "low grade" plot like Goblet 10 is better then nothing(not that im picking on this particular plot as im sure someone loves it - it just happens to have a not-great view and its not close to amenities to make up for it). If you want to increase your chances, id point you to the sub-division lots. Some people will overlook them at first trying to get a "main division" house.

Beyond that, its up to fate. So good luck.

thanks for the suggestion Frizze, I was about to log on and mention that tip but my friend said the minion just sold today.

I believe we're just a little shy of 4 mil now. Finally starting to plan everything out since it's starting to become within arms reach
