If mooglebox doesn't have a source for it, it's from one of the regular chests in one of the new dungeons. You can also buy them on the wards since they are tradeable.

You should be able to take dated items over to 2.0 they just won't be able to be crafted anymore lol. Though I"m kind of curious why are that head piece so important? Wouldn't http://mooglebox.com/entries/felt-beret.php be able to replace them at 48 lol. Or is it just for appearance?

Mostly, yes. They look badass and I like having things that drop from level 99 mobs that you can't easily kill anymore. Because I'm fucking hardcore and elitist as fuck.
