    Dualcast Cancel

    Date & Time: 09/29/20
Frequency: Occurs consistently and has been since at least the Stormblood patches before Shadowbringers.
    World Name: Balmung
    Character Name: Berteaux Braumegain
    Class/Level: Red Mage/80
    Party or Solo: Either

    Steps:
    1. Cast a spell with Red Mage, causing Dualcast to activate.
    2. Activate Sprint.
    3. The Dualcast proc disappears.

I am assuming that this isn't intentional, and it makes maintaining offense while moving a bit frustrating.

It's intentional, at least as far as Dualcast and Sprint's descriptions state. The term "ability" in a tooltip always refers specifically to actions that have that classification as opposed to something like "skill", "spell" or "weaponskill." Sprint doesn't have the classification "Ability" so it cancels the effect. It doesn't have any classification at all, actually, so whether Sprint should have a classification might be up for debate.

    The Dualcast tooltip:

As right as you are, Sprint shouldnt be a spell at all. It originally ate all TP making it a weaponskill/ability. Though if the devs intended this to be the case, its anyone's guess. I think OP has a legitimate discussion here, honestly. I never noticed it on RDM at all, but then again i usually wasnt thinking to sprint when dualcasting. Could be an unintended oversight.
Edit: Youre right. its probably intended at the end of the tool tip. So, no posing in the middle of dualcasting verraise

    Sprint isn't a spell. It's unclassified.
