It's only wise to wait for a civil war to end if you assume that the empire would be weaker by the end. But as we've seen at the end of 5.3, the civil war has ended rather abruptly with one old "friend" taking charge. (Ok, admittedly only the palace, but since the palace is presumably in the capital city, I'm pretty sure the war is basically over other than a certain legion that has removed itself from the main conflict as it has its own plan, which we will spoil starting in 5.35. Oh, and I guess there is another legion led by a certain milk drinker, but that's also separate from the war)

Unless it's a setup for future content, we will probably defeat that guy (either in a trial, solo duty, or dungeon), though all the kids might still die.

Of course, the dangling plot threads would be SO annoying if we DIDN'T get involved in the Empire, especially considering we still got that big-ass cloud covering the Three Great Continents map...

Yeah lol that was a good one they threw at us. I'm taking your lead and assuming nothing at this point. Personally, im still curious about Midgardsormrs other possible living children. Would be cool to hit up Meracydia and check them out. Thavnair got a lot of honorable mentions we could go there as well.

The cutscenes at the end of the 5.3 MSQ suggest that the civil unrest has been stomped to the ground already and that while we'll likely be visiting there next expansion, it won't be to build any sort of alliance.

I would rather they just do Islabard for 6.0 with probably Sharlyan as the main hub city, the Garlean capitol as the endgame hub, and the moon as the final mystery zone. Islabard has been teased for two expansions now and to be honest if they did another misdirect it would just get old and repetitive and quite frankly annoying.

It worked for ShB because for most of SB i made it known I did not want the next expansion to be fighting the Garleans again for another full X-pack as it would be to similar and I am not a fan when two x-packs in a row use the same enemies (cough cough SWTOR KotFE followed by KotET) and also ShB was the Ascian expansion and further lead to the finale but right now Islabard has been teased to high heaven and i really do not want another full X-Pack of them dragging out the conflict with the meanwhile at the Imperial Palace cutscenes and wondering when we are finally going to go there.

Meracydia can wait I want 6.0 to finally be Islabard. Also i believe Yoshi P. has stated for a while that 6.0 is supposed to be the end of the season 1 storyline and I hope that includes not only the Hydalyn/Zodiark plotline but also the Garlemald one too. that way the next expansion can be a totally new ark with new threats.
