Augmented Ironworks gear name space problem

Now that all the gear in the old tomestone shops is "Augmented" by default, the amount of space available for their names in the shop window is proving to be woefully inadequate. As seen in the screenshots above, 90% of the space reserved for the weapons' name is now used by "Augmented Ironworks Magitek" leaving absolutely no space for the important identifying bit of the name: the type of the weapon itself.

The problem is argueably worse with the armor pieces (screenshot #2) since you can technically still identify weapons by their icons, but not armor. At the moment, you are forced to hover your mouse over every single item, just to confirm if it really is the one you are looking for.

Even if this issue in itself is by no means a game breaker, it does feel highly unintuitive and not exactly pretty to look at.

I was not sure where this should go. Seeing as this is probably not an issue in the JP text version of the game (less space needed for text overall) I thought I might as well put it under localization since it's technically not a bug, just a text-based oversight.

The naming is really a non-issue because you can filter the gear by job.

There is a problem, however, in that the filters appear to be based on the items' job flags, which means you can't filter Ironworks and Shire accessories by job because all Ironworks and Shire accessories are "All classes". Rather than pursuing a localization adjustment, a more appropriate adjustment would be to make the UI filter gear by the jobs that are actually intended to equip them, so that, e.g., healers don't see casting accessories, even for levels that jobs would be allowed to wear the wrong accessories.

This, however, is still not the real issue. At its core, the problem is that pre-ShB accessories are still "All classes", allowing jobs to equip the wrong accessories. The best fix would be to restrict all post-50 accessories to their intended roles. Then we wouldn't need a localization adjustment or a UI fix.

Please don't do this. Some of the jewellery sets have different colours by role so there's glamour value in making them interchangeable.

And I agree with the original post - even if you can filter by job, it's frustrating not being able to read the title.

If anything, could the gear be renamed? Make the old i120 set "prototype Ironworks gear" (like the Alexandrian sets) and the i130 set just becomes Ironworks again.

For what it's worth, the new shop interface at the new Rowena's Representative vendors in the main cities is a significantly improved version of this and does display it a bit wider with the full name of each of them in most cases minus a few letters here and there. And in the cases where it does cut off a few letters the most severe case I can find is "of Fen..." and the items are all split into groups by specific sub-roles anyway so there's no possible confusion even if it were completely cut off. E.g. MNK/SAM gear is in its own own category separate from DRG and separate from NIN and separate from all other roles. It even is smart and includes the "All classes" accessories in the appropriate job groupings so you don't have to go to a separate section for them. E.g. the "of Aiming" accessories appear under both the NIN and Ranged Physical DPS categories.

I have no clue if they plan on extending that style of shop interface to other merchants, however. It would be nice, though, since the biggest benefit to me of it is not having to back out and talk to the NPC again if you want to change categories. Screenshot of the interface below.

Another option would be to allow re-sizing the shop interface as an additionol option above the overall scaling that can already be done.

That's a separate problem, the fix for which is making them dyable.

Perhaps Augmented gear could just get a special symbol instead, something similar to the HQ icon you get through crafting. Means the wording "Augmented" can be removed thus making it easier to search for gear if that's one of the issues.

Honestly, this or the prototype thing are probably the easiest and most dynamic solutions, though prototyping the old sets would be less time consuming since it wouldn't require designing an all new icon.
