    Bored, nothing to do....?

I know the typical response to advice for someone who is bored, is they are "burned out" and should take a break or quit the game, but I'm anything but typical.

I think there is even another "T" word I get called for asking for improvements, pointing out flaws, or being logical and helpful.
Yet I seem to know pretty well how a thread will be received based on its title and context.

Here I post "normally" with no traction:
    https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...ot-bar-presets
    As was expected.

My other more "full" threads gain traction. Even though people say I dont know what I'm doing.

This response is in attempt to help spark ideas for not only the person in this thread if they so happen upon it, but also anyone else looking for some ideas.

    https://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/...d-in-this-game

I know people say I shouldnt even be allowed to talk, so its no question that I'm completely unqualified to speak on this topic. Especially considering I'm an achievement hunter, and my main character hovers in the top hundreds ranked players world wide. I also dont know how to keep the fun going, with my multiple alts all high levels for multiple classes.

I dont say that to boast, but just to put some things into perspective for the reader.

I've also been playing since before version 2.0 even released.

Anyway, enough of the rambling lets jump into it.

    Intro:

First off the easiest answers here are "level other classes."

There are reasons why you "should" level the other classes, even if you arent immediately drawn to this suggestion.

    Battle classes:
When you level alternate battle classes, you gain insight into the overall understanding of how the game and its functions work. Such as if you're a melee, who now is tanking, you know to keep the mobs still, so they are not rotating. Conversely, if you're a tank who has never played melee, but now you're leveling MNK, you notice the importance of keeping mobs still. This type of insight transfers between tanking and healing as well as other classes!

    Crafting/Gathering:

I know a lot of players are turned off just by the idea alone, but consider 2 key things.

    1. You can repair your own gear on the fly.

This is a great boon, and can save a lot of time and headache. (If only Square-Enix allowed us to repair other players gear too, like we could in 1.0, this feature would be even better!)

    2. It goes extremely fast.

Just as one example, I leveled an alternate character, from level 0 Miner (the class not even unlocked) all the way to level 50, in under 1 hour. Its also quite fun, and engaging. I never thought I would like it either, but I tried it (admittedly in 1.0) and I enjoyed it, and its now one of the main reasons I even enjoy this game as much as I do.

    List time:

(This is very difficult to explain how something can be fun, so I'm not going to try to cluster or organize this, its much easier just to tick off a huge list of random things in no particular order. Some of these are achievement hunting, some of them are accumulating points or gil or other currencies, just a huge list of random ideas.)

-Palace of the Dead weapon farming
    -Gather a daily "map"
    -Farm B rank hunts
    -Grand Company Supply missions

-FATEs (for achievements, GC seals, 5.0 rank/gems, lore)
-Beast tribes (Even older ones to stay loaded with tokens, for relics, materia, you name it.)
    -Wondrous Tails
    -Roulettes
    -Mentor Roulette
    -Level Trusts
-GATE farming in the Gold Saucer

    -Minion Collections completion

-Spamming/queue multiple low level trials for easy tomes and to help new players get into queue's faster.
-Queue multiple raid battles as adventurer in need for tomes/help new players.
-Marketboard mastery (even if you dont master it, this is a huge time sink for some this is literally all they ever do.)
-Scour party finder to help random people clear instances with "Undersized"
-Scour party finder for social/RP events
-Try finding/joining linkshells to tackle battles "Minimum item level"
-Scour Fellowships to find new and interesting ideas for things to do.
-Buy an apartment (these are "unlimited" not "exactly" unlimited, but I doubt they will ever cap out.)
-Find a Free Company and try your hand at gardening.
    -Try gardening in your apartment
    -Decorate an apartment/house/Free Company chamber
-Participate in any of your Free Companies workshop projects.
-Make an alternate character to double up on leve allowances, Crafting/Gathering scrips, glamour, whatever interests you.
    -Go exploring housing areas.
-Find a housing area with jump puzzles and sign all the guest books.
-Cap all the items you own to 999
-Cap all currencies (Hardest one of these of course is gil, cap gil on your character, alts, and every retainer! Will keep you occupied for years and years)
    -Sightseeing log completion
    -Ranked PvP battles
    -Ranked crafting for Ishgard restoratin
    -Level Blue Mage
    -Blue Mage spell log completion
    -Blue Mage Masked Carnival completion.
    -Blue Mage Masked Carnival farming
    -Blue Mage achievement completion
    -Ishgard Restoration token farming
    -Ishgard crafting mastery

    .....

This is not even close to being complete, I"m just running out of ideas off the top of my head right now and I'm sure I'll revisit this not only for myself, but to edit and add or even clean up this post!

I mean if you have done everything you want to with the game, there's nothing wrong with unsubbing and doing something else. It's impossible for a game to have endless meaningful content.

The reason it's the typical response is because it's almost anyways the correct answer. Why are you so against just taking a break from the game if you're that bored?

While the content may be actually useful, this is just annoying and cause unneccesary problem.

Id ignore ranked pvp tbf. Its just too hard to get into it when you got to w8 15 - 30 - 60 mins depending the time of day and the season time. It is one of the few stuff that as much as i want to get into it is literally impossible . I just hope SE manages to make pvp popular at some point, but even then due to their stance on past rewards ill have missed most of the rewards.

There's also temporarily stepping away from something you have done for a long time, grown used to, and coming back to it after a break to rediscover your passion for it.
When the director/producer of a subscription-based game tells people that it's fine to unsub for a while and take a break, losing the company money, it likely is a valid course of action.

This. Time to look at other games like The Last of Us II and Fortnite.
