There is a set of doors that seems to tease something, but I don't think Yoshi P. ever did anything with it.

Was there any comment about this place at all?

If I remember rightly, that leads to the new Stone, Sky and Sea grounds that provides settings for ShB fights that was added in a patch at the end of last year. But hopefully someone could clarify that further.

That's the secret tunnel Tomra dwarves and refugees from Amity use to go to lower kholusia without using the lift, it's mentioned/visited in a few quests. No idea if actual Lalas can use it or it's just thematic adornment though

I don't ever recall the island being mentioned specifically, though I do remember them mentioning the secret passage.

I personally thought it was going to end up being related to Eulmore's dark secret in some way because the whole arrangement seemed too extensive and sensitive to be carried out within the city itself.
