Maybe this game is not going to be for you then.I just feel like FFXIV is taking the worst aspects of all the other MMOs out there (e.g., content finder, heavily instanced, heavily themepark, heavily restrictive gear even on crafting gear, gear grind, crafter irrelevance) and taking none of the good stuff (i.e., playability, interesting combat).
Exactly, the words "FFXIV is taking the worst things for an MMO game" is subjective.. No company can please anyone. It's common business logic, companies go for.. what will appeal the most of the fanbase. Content Finder etc etc is A big hit for most of the community.
The Minority can cry and complain all they want.. eventually they are just going to have to face the facts, and make an important discussion. Play or Go home. Simple as that
Ah, I would prefer if we could keep the thread civil and on topic. I'm not arguing for or against anything beyond the inclusion of a healthy amount of open world content. My only issue is that the developers may focus on purely one type of content due to the inclusion of a dungeon/content finder, and I would like them to know that there are plenty of players who have a preference for other things
I also see nothing wrong with having open world bosses/NMs having loot worth farming for. I for one am an ample supporter of "side grades", equipment that remains useful in certain circumstances or used for unique builds (the Kraken Club in FFXI, for example). Creating a wide variety of equipment and spreading it among multiple types of content is the key to allowing all types of players to progress through the game
Doomsdayer People, they never quit do they? We barely no jack s**t and some people think they know what 2.0 is going to be like.
You guys crack me up
I'm kinda inclined to agree with you here. I worry a little about this game's future but they still have time to present something more appealing to the XI crowd. If SE is really ballsy enough to alienate XI players by flooding XIV with awhole bunch of WoW-like 'casual?' stuff (yes.. that's my opinion..) without catering to some of the greater aspects from XI then so be it. Everyone tries to clone WoW for profits.. yet everyone fails at actually pulling it off.. Wouldn't surprise me that XIV is forced to attempt a similar approach due to that devastating launch. I think going down that route would just eventually just lead this MMO into the dirt with the rest of the clones, but hell, let em try it if they want. XIV's dedicated player base primarily came from XI.. so if/when we leave.. good luck XIV. They'll be limping along with abunch of MMO-swapping casual players.. like the rest of the clones..
OP, Patriarch's thread (think called Highly Notorious Monsters) does a really good job of addressing this issue. Although he does talk about instanced content, it's really moreso focused on the content that we don't currently have (open-world). Might be better to add to that one since the Dev's are already taking a look at it. I do agree with you though, good post.
I'm a casual player, and I'm all for NM/HNM/Bosses in the open world or what have you.
If anything, I find that it's the hardcore gamers who spend most of the time in the forums complaining about things that don't really matter in the long run~
this is true. people want choices. Bring on instanced thats fine but bring on open world to. thats also fine. Can never have to much content or have to many different types of content.
I doubt everything will be isntanced in 2.0
I think a lot of new content in this version is instanced because it will be much easier to transfer over to 2.0
