Out of curiosity, just so I don't step out of line, when did this become normal? I understand gay people, sure some people may have been born with lust towards the same sex, but changing your sex is just messed up to be honest. Maybe I'm wrong, in which case please explain to me how this is normal (and for the record I'm not religious so its not that, but call me old fashioned but if you were meant to be a woman you would've been born one :S)
well sex and gender are two completely different things. Sex is what you are born as. Eg: you have male parts, simply put, you are male.

You say people who are meant to be women would have been born a woman (and likewise for people meant to be men), however, even medically that rule has been proven to not always apply
Gender is what you identify yourself as. Most peoples gender identity is the same as the sex they were born with. For me, that is not the case.

the actual technical term is gender dysphoria, or Gender identity disorder. Signs of this do arise from eaely childhood. Tbh it is rather normal, and many more people are coming forward with this disorder as we move more and more into modern times. The process itself is very long, most of it is psychological evaluation to see if the person isnt suffering from anything else, so it isnt something you can just walk in to your docs for and demand on the spot.

I don't think it is messed up at all (although i admit, im from a bias perspective here). It is however, something which is often mislabled. Often, if the person with gender dysmorphia tries to push it aside, it can lead to major depression and other such nasties.
