    AOE Toggle Needs to GO

    AOE Toggle needs to be removed. Terrible terrible terrible concept.

    Is this being addressed in the battle update?

    SE needs to make individual AOE spells or somehow remake the AOE mechanics. The toggle is too much of a hassle to deal with, especially when aggro'd groups don't even yield SP until they turn red.

    I like it, I dont find it to much, I dont even use macros except for this and I play controller so Left trigger + A = on, right trigger + A = off (or ctrl+1/Alt+1)

    I hope they keep it because they I can control my nukes and such. I just wish it would remember my settings, maybe for a safety matter it doesnt, but annoys me when everyones like buff buff buff and i do protect on 1 guy lol.

    You can control your abilities with Protect and Protect (AOE) too. Just make them individual skills. AoE toggle is miserable and its inefficient. Goes back to the whole "number of inputs" vs "efficiency" debate.

    Not to mention, it is unresponsive.

    Also. Pad playing is not meant for PC MMO controls. Again, PS3 / PC UI's need to be separate. This is once again a great example of the UI efficiency suffering because of PS3 pad limitations.

    Sure, if I can get 60 slots, But I dont want to have to use 2 slots for like 20 of my actions just so I can choose between AOE or not...

    And if you say use macros, then you could use macros too

    /aoe on
    /ac protect
    /aoe off

    Macros take gross amounts of time to execute and would probably bug out, so no I wont suggest that.

    They could easily make it so you can equip the same type of spell.

    Furthermore it would also drive them to make more than 1 action bar present on the screen at all times.

    I agree. I hate the AoE toggle. I'm tired of having a giant green button pop up in my face every time I cast a spell. Having to click it with my mouse or hit my enter button is an unnecessary extra confirmation. And I'm tired of the frustration of when I accidentally do one when I wanted to do the other.

    I dont want more action bars because I playing the UI, I wanna play a game, not menus and buttons. I dont get the whole same type of spell thing I wasnt talking about that, what im saying is I'd need 2 slots per action. Protect Single, Protect AOE, which be pointless why would I ever need a single?

    Blizzard, Blizzard AOE, Fire, FireAOE, Stone, Stone AOE.

    6 Slots used up for duplicate spells justi n different forms, very silly imo. I much prefer the switch. I wouldnt mind the buttin being removed because its fugly. Have something similar to the target settings.

    I can't tell if this thread is a joke or not.

    AOE toggle is actually a good idea. Yes, it's frustrating when you make a mistake but user error is user error.

    It's so much easier than having Cure/Sacrifice x4, Elemental Nuke x16, DoT x 18, Buff x10
    You have all that room on your Action Bar? I don't.

    The AOE spells wouldn't cost any slot currency, but instead the single target ones would have to be equipped first.

    And as far as fitting on the action bar. Nearly every other successful MMO has multiple action bars. XIV needs them, thus multiple action bars and using Ctrl 1-0, Alt 1-0, or even Shift 1-0 would instantly open up more available skills and functionality to the game. No more spewing through cumbersome menus or screwing up unresponsive toggle.

    "But that takes away macro keybinds!"

    You have an entire keyboard to bind macros and abilities. I am sure you can find something that works.

    Depends on if they ever give us Macro support or not. Simple macros rarely mis-fire hell even in XI my most complicated macros with multiple /wait ~ timers rarely had hicups unless I screwed them up myself.
