Provenance Watcher and The First Brood

So, first things first, don't know if there was another thread on this, but I wasn't keen to go looking for one to necro, not with all the necroing going on now.

Second, I know this likely can't be answered, and that a likely response, "Nah, Prov Watcher ain't part of the First Brood man, he doesn't match any of the artwork."

So my question is, what are your thoughts on where it came from though? Having played through all of FFXI in the old days, I know what it's a reference too, but they specifically gave it an FFXIV Great Wyrm body rather than its own unique body from FFXI(which they could have easily done, given they lifted many other monsters directly from it).

A friend of mine referenced the Allagans and the dreadnaughts on the other side of Hydatos. I suppose it could have been an Allagan experiment put into stasis until awakened by the expedition team, but I'm just really curious to see if there's anything on it beyond supposition.

Considering it's in Eureka, I assume Eureka created it.

The Idea of the Crystal Dragon was borrowed from another game, i've seen him as a "final boss" in FFXI from which FFXIV borrows a bit. Not saying XI created it but the design is very similar and even the mechanics.

In XI PW would swap his weakness at one point, which even that is mirrored in our fights. I guess they just it a fitting final zone boss.
If you google "FFXI Provenance Watcher" you will see the design is similar. I think thats why it cant match anything in XIV

They probably just didnt want to add a entirely new model so they used the greater wyrm one we had.

The Triple Triad card likens it to a crystalline entity similar to the Luminare elite mark, forlorn maidens, etc, albeit one mimicking a great wyrm. This would make it a Soulkin or Elemental of some kind. It's not generally clear how these non-biological entities grow and evolve. However, this is not the first crystal dragon encountered either; the primal Shinryu appeared as a giant crystalline dragon. Given Cid's theory on the apparent connection between Shinryu and Midgardsormr after Alphascape V2.0, it is probably not too strange that a lesser arcane being like this might mimic one of the First Brood.

It's pretty safe to assume anything in Eureka was made by Eureka.

There may be some underpinning lore that Eureka made it off the inspiration of the first brood. But likely that would need a lore book confirmation.

Most of the notorious monsters in Eureka were either voidsent drawn to all the chaotic aether (e.g. Pazuzu) or leftover arcane creations of the Students of Baldesion (e.g. Creepy Doll). I highly doubt the Provenance Watcher was a Eureka weapon, since it wasn't sealed within the Baldesion Arsenal.
