Roleplay Groups/Free Companies?

Hey all!

Sorta of a new player and WOW refugee and have had a question really brewing in mind.

Coming from someone who was once on a dedicated roleplay server and guild, I am genuinely curious if roleplay is something that can be found in this game. I don't know if it is just the world I am on (Jenova) or I have not been in the right spots, but that side of things seems pretty dead.

However if anyone could guide me in the right direction or is on my world and wants to start something, please let me know!

There are most certainly a large number of roleplayers and roleplayer FCs in the game.
The unofficial RP servers are Balmung, Mateus, and Omega.

A good place to start researching the RP community is https://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/ but be aware that much of the discussions etc have moved away from there onto various Discord servers.

In addition to Mistake's post, I'd also recommend looking into the Balmung Event Calendar over on Tumblr. It started as a way for roleplayers on Balmung to find events by listing what ones were occurring, where, and when each week - and now it's expanded to include all data-centers. Though I will warn you that Crystal makes up the bulk of the listed events since that's where most of the roleplayers in this game have congregated. There's also a pretty sizable roleplay presence on twitter if you can dig around enough to find it.
