Area music has been looped from HW, at least. You'd know, if you'd actually been in those areas.None of the open world zones in the entire game have looped back ground music. Some just stop for longer than others, and some have shorter jingles.
The community has been asking that they -loop- the music in the open world since launch.
If they add an option to ... make the pause longer, before they add the option to loop it....... I'm not going to finish that sentence.
For example the music in Pharos Sirius used to not loop, and only played a short jingle at the start of the dungeon. The generic "battle" music used to play just like in the lower level dungeons. Thankfully they moved away from that concept in at least dungeons, because it clearly didnt work.
There is literally already an option to turn off the music.
So if I'm forced to manually hide and un-hide the chat log, I think you can manually turn on and off the music.
They don't though. The music is roughly 3-5 minutes long depending on the zone (Painted Hills is 5 minutes long for exampleactually it might be shorter, since the uploader on youtube most likely looped it), but once it's done, there will be silence for roughly 30 or so seconds.
For example, here's Civilisations. It plays for around 2:49, stops and then starts up again a few seconds later.
