    No female Hrothgar? No sub.

    Such a unique (easily the most unique that FFXIV has) race. But male only. Why? Is it because women have to follow pretty standards? Is it because they can't be a little bulkier? My sub is cancelled and will be staying such till we get female Hrothgar. Its completly inexcusable.

    Female Ronso are even a thing!

    Yeah, the gender-lock on Hrothgar is a huge mistake. The only precedents for it are from 1.0 and SE themselves said they were something that shouldn't have happened. And now they're doing this? Like, sorry, but if you're going to bring in Ronso, you've got to bring in female Ronso. This is a problem. It's a big problem.

    Consumer feedback is critical for improving any product. White knights defending flawed games permit the devs to be complacent, contributing to a game's compounding problems. You've already seen this play out with the bloating of the cash shop, the glamour situation, and the crushing pressure of inventory management. If you love a game, you need to feel free to let the devs know when they've made a mistake. White knights, on the other hand, kill good games.

    If they didn’t lock the Viera they probably wouldn’t have locked the Hrothgar. It has to be fair, sadly.

    I've said it in other threads and I'll say it here, I'm not angry about the gender lock but I'm more surprised than anything else. A gender locked race is not something I ever would have expected from Yoshida and his team. No male viera, two gender locked races, no healer. I'm so confused by their design decisions this time around.

    Female Hrothgar could have been so cool. They could have even made them a bit more "feminine" with one subrace looking more like this:

    Female Roe is the least played race/gender combo in the game, so that's why you get sexy bunny ladies and no feral hulky ladies.

    Roegadyn and Highlanders exist. People keep saying that Hrothgar is just "Roe with fur", so how would a female be any different?

    Go read the FFXIV reddit thread, there are many more comments regarding female Hrothgar there. I think the male Viera are getting more attention overall though since they were specifically asked for/assumed to be coming. Hrothgar/Ronso are a surprise to everyone. Regardless, gender-locking is the issue here not so much which one is wanted more. Personally, I would have preferred the female Hrothgar since there is no "lore" reason why they should not exist. There were no male viera in other final fantasies, however there were plenty of female Ronso.
