    Rent-a-shell network...avoid content finder?

I have an idea for a player solution to content finders. This idea is derived from the ability of players in Guild Wars 1 to fill out the remaining slots of their party by renting npc's.

What if someone on each server created a rent-a-shell network as a way for those in the shell to make money by filling out the slots needed for peoples quests and dungeons. The hierarchy would be:

Shell Creator > Shell brokers (sackholders) > Shell Mercenaries

Groups would contact a trusted shell broker to pay for each extra member they need to complete their objective, and negotiate a price. The group would directly pay the broker, not the mercenary. The broker would assign mercenaries to the group to complete the clients objectives. Once the objectives are completed, the mercenary would apply to the broker for their wages, barring any objection from the client.

Ideas, thoughts? This is just brainstorming here so any input is welcome.

In 2.0 we are getting chocobo's which can fight in battle, 4 real players and 4 Chocobo's.

I doubt the AI is going to be good enough to survive most content though, hopefully Chocob's and the Pet system will have a gambit system like in FF12. XD

Is the OP intending it to be NPCs?

Or is it, a shell, full of people who wont mind doing the content for some gil, thus you equip the shell and go "50k for Darkhold Slots! Need 3"

    Seems, a bit, dirty lol.

The way things are now and how insanely bad the Linkshell system is, it wouldn't work very long.

This would be a great addition for those that don't wish to use the content finder!

After all, I think we are too far along for the whole "worldless model" thing to be scrapped.

Well the intent would be a shell of players who would fill in the roles a client needs to complete their content in exchange for payment. What would separate this from just shouts in Ul'dah offering rewards for help would be the hierarchy of the linkshell. The client would be paying a trusted broker in the shell, to avoid the possibility of either side getting scammed. The client could also have an avenue to settle disputes by appealing to the linkshell creator.

An added benefit to hiring a shell dedicated to clearing content is that the mercenaries would over time become quite experienced with all of the dungeons and quests, making completion likely take less time.

The shell itself could have internal point systems as well to reward active players. Assuming that the broker would be taking a percentage of each transaction, such proceeds could be used to reward active members. Of course, this is just speculation.

I dont know, it all seems a bit fishy to me.

You want to avoid content finder because... of what? You are worried about other people outside the server? Might steal loot, but you're happy to pay a complete stranger (doesnt matter if SE brand him trust-worthy, hes a stranger!) to give money out to people to then maybe not even help out.

It would require a lot of features and support to actually work legitimately and that would then make it the case of trying to influence "pay gil to win x content", do we really want that representation?

That said, people did it in XI, hell I did haha, I would get lazy or not have a big LS and just hand out a couple mil for sky/sea items that were rare/ex, but that was more for the item not the achievement. I did however used to sell summon burn PT's, Me and some friends would tribox burn people up, sold 2 leech spots for 300k/pull, and people handed over millions to me like I was their family lol.

So all up in airs, the community is unsuspectingly trust worthy but yet insanely paranoid, all very strange.

I am not sure if this type of boast would help, you could even do it now. Some how advertise your shell as a "we will get stuff done for you for x cost!", but then it comes down to, well what about things like Ifrit?

I know Ifrit isnt in the content finder, and that could be an incentive to your idea as yours is local on server.

You pay 10k per Ifrit run, what if you have to do 70-100 runs costing, a lot...

    10k per person
    need 4 people
    40k/run

    100 runs = 4mil
    woo =O

I'm still fine with a regular content finder, as it'll still be optional (meaning you don't have to use it, Rokien).

Not neccessarily... you could be a mercenary and get paid to do contents . Would you consider it differently if the client was guaranteed to keep all drops?

Well, that is the point of the shell. It wouldn't be an SE-branded trustworthy person by any means. It would be a sackholder in the shell that you would be paying, who would then assign mercenaries in the shell to fill your party. You would pay him, he would pay the mercenaries once the task has been completed. If the task is not completed, you appeal the broker, he pays you back, and the mercenaries do not get paid. The hierarchy would be setup in house and trustworthy members would be promoted in house to the benefit of the client, who would basically mediate the transaction to prevent scams.

I am fine with other systems that SE has in the works too, but the reason I am offering this idea up is because it is something that can be done by the players now, without the need of SE to program anything or the need of anyone to wait to 2.0. A sort of, self-organized solution.
