Experiences are different for everyone, but I find that keeping the tank alive during big pulls less strenuous on SCH than any other healer. The reason why I use WHM for 4-man is because it is a dungeon mower, and the mass stun from the initial Holy is tough to beat when it comes to raw mitigation. While it is true that SCH's have to use more resources to keep the tank alive, I welcome this. It makes SCH feel like the Batman of healers due to all their wonderful tools in their arsenal.

I've only done healing once before, years ago in WoW (as a Shaman in Legion), and it wasn't my thing, but after re-rolling from BLM to SMN I remembered I could do SCH too and thought "why not?"

I've been playing FFXIV for 1.5-2 months (tried FFXIV years ago and it didn't click but came back for 5.3) and I do understand FFXIV in general (I'm a 80 BLM and done casual raids) but clearly not a FFXIV veteran. Currently level 31 in SCH/SMN.
Healing is so different in comparison to a DPS job simply because you can't really practice healing on a striking dummy. It's very much learn on-the-go, so you have to queue into content with others.

Hanging out in level 80 content for a while and going back down to lv30 is a big jump back. You have to remember to take in that your are back in ARR. You'll hear healers talking about using ogcds before GCDs; try to spend your GCDs on damage, etc. While this is all well and good, you are 30-ish, and just starting out. Don't allow others to let you get too ahead of yourself. These things will come in time, and learning when and when not to use your skills will be a similar learning process to when you leveled BLM.

Some of the best advice I can give you is to incorporate what helped you learn BLM into learning SCH. That might not make sense because they are two completely different jobs, but what I mean by that is to find how your BLM experience can be used to give you an advantage while playing SCH. An example of this is as BLM, you likely learned where to stand during many encounters in order to minimize movement. This will be extremely advantageous for you playing another caster like SCH. SCH doesn't just use GCDs for damage, they use the GCD to apply shields as well. Another example is placing skills they do share like Swiftcast at the same location on your hotbar/crossbar.

The action will likely be pretty fast at first. A lot of things you need to be paying attention to are going to fly right over your head. Don't worry about this. As you gain experience, things will slow down. During that time just remember to focus on keeping the other players healed up. Over-healing is generally frowned upon, but far more acceptable when you are starting out. Don't be afraid to keep players topped up at first before you start showing death you can play the fiddle. Same goes for when you enter new content as a healer.

Last is your UI. Make sure you set it up in a way that facilitates what you need to be paying attention to. I've seen some atrocious healer UI's that makes me want to launch arrows at the screen. Keep it clean and simple.

Feel free to ask specific questions so we know what it is exactly you want to address. In the mean time just try to have fun. Best of luck!

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
Hmm...when are you using sprint if you're following the tank? Sprint has double it's duration when used out of combat than when you use it while still in combat. So in dungeons you generally want to wait until every mob is dead to use it or right before you get into combat.
