How is fanfest going to work this year

Other than the physical conventions being canceled no.

IIRC they talked about how NA is cancelled but EU and JP are still possible though I honestly hope an in-person Fanfest doesn't happen this year or spring of the next.

I honestly rather they just pull the plug and go digital. Yeah. It sucks. It sucks not being to meet up with the awesome developers and community members... But like, this is our reality right now. There is a lot of uncertainty with the pandemic. I rather we just accept a year or two where things are weird and work under that presumption to give all parties time to figure out what they want to do. On a personal level I am 99% sure there is no way Fanfest is happening in Europe at the scheduled time and honestly it will feel weird if only Japan gets a Fanfest though I am willing to accept it even if that's rather optimistic.

NA and JP fanfest currently are canceled. EU is pending while they still watch Covid developments. As of right now we have no information on virtual fanfests that could possibly replace the physical ones unfortunately.


Maybe the 5.4 Live Letter will give us some news.

There won't be an NA fanfest in person this year. There's no way SE will have a convention hosted in the US with the state of its pandemic and there's no way the pandemic is going away within the next 6 months.

Due to the currently running second surge of Covid in Europe you can be pretty sure that the EU will be canceled as well soon.
