Good and Evil are complicated in this situation. The void basically lacks aether itself and because in the FFXIV world, aether is required for damn near everything it results in a situation where the voidsend literally hunger for aether to point where they will do anything to fulfill that hunger, that includes ripping it out of anything that happens to have it.

The early Tham class quests delve into a little voidsent business and if anyone reading this hasn't already played through those quests I highly recommend it. It kind of emphasizes the level of deception some are capable of. It just seems like there is lot purposefully left "mysterious" or vague about voidsent to keep from writing into any corners or into retcon situation. And that is fine imo. I would rather that be the case than we just find out everything and there are all kinds of contradictions within the lore.

And another thing.. I would like to see more intentional mistakes in someone's study notes or something where the game has Npc's that are not entirely correct about something yet they fully believe what they have come to understand in a way. Could lead to some interesting gameplay elements.

I think they established unless you're killing them in their home realm, the stronger voidsent don't truly die as they manifest in other worlds by sending their souls across the rift to possess something as a temporary vessel and will simply be banished back to void if their physical form is destroyed (Assuming their soul isn't sealed away somehow instead).

You're thinking of the Burning Legion from Warcraft. Dead voidsent are just dead (assuming they're not just playing possum, like Diabolos in the Lost City of Amdapor). The only known exception is the Cloud of Darkness, who can't be permanently killed because she IS the Void.
