The Void has no lifestream to speak of, which has resulted in the surviving inhabitants being warped into effectively immortal wraiths that possess corpses outside of the Void itself and devour aether in whatever world they are summoned to grow their power. As Diabolos demonstrates, they're also fully capable of (and not above) devouring other voidsent for power.

As one All Saints' Wake event showed they aren't all evil by nature, but their parasitic existence means they're likely more trouble than they're worth.

As the Void has no lifestream, the concept of maturity is hard to apply to them. Many are capable of communication, but in the end the species itself is little more than particularly intelligent animals. Right and wrong don't apply to them the same way they do to people.

Good and Evil are complicated in this situation. The void basically lacks aether itself and because in the FFXIV world, aether is required for damn near everything it results in a situation where the voidsend literally hunger for aether to point where they will do anything to fulfill that hunger, that includes ripping it out of anything that happens to have it.

The early Tham class quests delve into a little voidsent business and if anyone reading this hasn't already played through those quests I highly recommend it. It kind of emphasizes the level of deception some are capable of. It just seems like there is lot purposefully left "mysterious" or vague about voidsent to keep from writing into any corners or into retcon situation. And that is fine imo. I would rather that be the case than we just find out everything and there are all kinds of contradictions within the lore.

And another thing.. I would like to see more intentional mistakes in someone's study notes or something where the game has Npc's that are not entirely correct about something yet they fully believe what they have come to understand in a way. Could lead to some interesting gameplay elements.
