Just to clear this up, I was pointing out the very fact that FF as a whole has had super giant robots for a long time. Not that only XIV had them. In other words. You're proving my point that super giant robots fit in the series cause of the mechs you named. And was making a point that we could legit do a Megaman crossover and because of those very mechs it'll fit no prob. Just so we're on the same page.

The key difference is that we did not "get Gundam". We got a unique-to-FFXIV giant robot paying tribute to Gundam. A tribute is not a crossover.

I would much sooner see an Eorzea-specific superhero parody than a direct insertion of highly recognisable pop-culture icons into the game.

Not a good enough reason sadly. We have already goone away from anything that " fits ". That stop being a thing a long time ago. We literally have super giant robots in the game. We can legit do a crossover with mega man and it'll fit just due to that alone.

I just want kool items and moves at this point.

Just because we already lost some of the battles does not mean that we have to lay down and take it all. (And before its taken the wrong way, I am not saying that its bad to wish for it. But that I really hope that such things stay out of the game. FF14 has an identity crisis already by getting so much from other FF games.)

Seeing how many people are against such an crossever than for it I doubt that its just a few of us being hang-up. Maybe we just dont want the game to used as a plattform to advertise other games? Just look at the Nier raid. This is nothing more than a huge advertisment of the nier games and that with content that normally is used to flesh out the world. Its fine if you dont care about this but others might not like it, me included.

There is nothing wrong with paying tribute to certain things, but outright just putting that stuff into the game? Thats just selling it out.

They do not have to be canon.

Then they could simply just give us our own version of a superhero costume (maybe with a cute side quest where some kids drew it for us because we are a hero in their minds and some NPC crafted them). See with that way they pay a tribute to it without just selling it out. Maybe even get us a shield designed around the FF style and thus we are Captain Eorzea or something.

(Throw in some funny sentences in the descriptions for it and there you have your hints at the other franchise without the need to copy it)

I'm sorry but your reasoning for justifying this isn't good enough either. With your logic it's ok for final fantasy to do a resident evil collab because Zenos rose from the dead therefore he is a zombie. You can literally make any excuse to justify something. That doesn't make it right.

It was last week that I was moping about how this game leaves a lot to be desired in terms of the vigilante mask departments, in the form of either something like a domino mask or full cowl and mask. There's the one mask from ARR that comes close but it lacks white lenses over the eyes, which would've absolutely sold me on putting that onto a glamour plate.

The things you asked for, which came from a hyper specific mmo which we both came from, will not ever be seen in ffxiv. Hence why I told you to go back.
