I have recently started playing the game so it is a fresh download of the client.

When I was having the crashes I checked on will it run and I met the recommend requirements.
Can you create a new post please? This post should be dedicated to 'disconnects', not game crashes.

Personally if you are on Geforce videocards, use the July released drivers from nvidia.. anything after that has been unstable for many ( as indicated on nvidia forums ). I would give that a try. Make sure no overclock on your cpu, memory, video card as well.

    Platform: PC Square Enix Edition
    Error messages received: 90001/90002
    Wired or WIFI connection: Wired
Other programs being used when running FFXIV: Norton ( application rule added to bypass FFXIV ), malwarebytes( application rule added to bypass FFXIV ), geforce experience
When disconnect occurs/How often: random, between 1-3 disconnects per day. Some days, none
Everything you have tried to resolve the issue: ran in admin mode, disabled norton/malwarebytes did not make any difference. Cleared internet explorer cache/cookies. Added port into router port forwarding but still receiving disconnects. Reinstalled the game. I am tech savy, and I have tried everything and believe this is server side issue. My disconnects started happening after 5.3 patch.

Your issue of stuff not loading in when changing maps points to one of two things -
A: slightly faulty download of the game (this can happen sometimes, re-download could fix this)
B: a faulty storage device on which the game is held (i.e. an SSD on its last legs, or a slightly faulty hard drive) <-- this is the least likely of the two
C: (the least likely of all, ever) faulty RAM, although if its only FFXIV that experiences these issues, I doubt its this.

My advice: Re-download the game once more (with no interruptions in the download process - i.e. shutting down the launcher mid download, if you can).

Edit 2: It's a very minor possibility, but - lock your in-game framerate. Just in case the graphics card is experiencing overheating. The more framerate the graphics card feeds (if unlocked) the hotter the card will get. Oftentimes running at high framerate at lower settings - puts more strain on the card, than running at max settings and low framerates would.

P.S. I know this post and the quoted text does not belong in a disconnects thing, but with my suggestions the above issue should be resolved.

Seriously, can someone explain to me how I can have FFXIV and WoW running side by side on 2 screens with FF's connection failing every 20-40 minutes and WoW's working without a single hitch for hours (days, weeks)?

Update - yesterday I was able to connect for about 3 hours with no disconnects. I did have some bad lag spikes and connection was listed as poor rather than the usual good connection I'm used to. Hopefully this wasn't a fluke and its a sign that something is being done to fix the problem for all of us.

I’ve been playing uninterrupted for the last 4 hours, connection is still listed as poor when I log into Ultros and have had some lag, players t-posing when I load into cities, etc. but other than that things seem to be improving.
