Probably not a whole new dev team, but there would be dedicated dev teams for each game after some new hires and some reshuffling if they want to keep up the pace of FFXIV's development. It's one thing if Shadowbringers (and Stormblood before it) didn't get anything new and only "lost content," but that's not the case and they're still keeping up with 3-4 months of patch cycle (unexpected quarantine aside).

Either way, it can be seen one way or the other once people have the credits for 16 and can compare them to the credits for SB and ShB.

Unlike those other projects though, FFXVI is litterally the same dev team as FFXIV. Creative business unit 3.

From someone who works in the game industry, it's PAINFUL how little people understand about development teams for projects. -_-

The FFXIV team is NOT the same team as the FFXVI team. That's not how it works. And if you don't think they brought in people specifically for FFXVI, you are reaching in an attempt to whine about FFXIV.

This game seems to be getting cheaper and cheaper, next expansion should be the worst so far.


Rumors did spread about Yoshida working on a secret project, now we know that is Final Fantasy XVI which has a remarkable resemblance to FFXIV, at least parts of it since it also looks very much like Final Fantasy XV, it looks rather shabby to me.
