I was also thinking something like this, kind of like classical RPGs where procedural dungeons were made. We have PoTD and HoH but what if we had procedurally generated dungeons as well? It could be called Aetherscape dungeons.![]()

One of the dungeons I fondly remember from WoW, even though I never properly experienced it due to it being too difficult at current level and too easy later on, was Blackrock Depths.
It´s a massive non-linear dungeon with lots of optional bosses. It also involves some outside of the dungeon quests where, for example, if you don´t have the right key you can´t go through some doors. Now, I know FFXIV´s dungeon design wouldn´t work with dungeon quests that way, but a dungeon that would let your party choose their way and which bosses to fight, being able to rush through it in 30 minutes or spend hours exploring everything.

tell whoever is making it to stop making content that isn't needed and make another raid instead.


For a Duty Finder (roulette) dungeon:
Open ended area with no set path. Enemies would be randomly placed and also patrol the area instead of just standing around. Bosses would also vary in location and type. During a boss fight environmental damage could close off certain paths or maybe open new ones. Damage and enemy difficulty would be sort of near but definitely below EX trial level, but with less group based mechanics (so that one person falling doesn't cause a wipe). The idea would be that the dungeon would never become routine.
If this dungeon is not roulette based but instead something more like PoTD or Eureka, then add some additional mechanics to the above. Perhaps specific enemies that hold keys for special areas, or that buff all enemies in the dungeon and need to be tracked down and defeated to make the rest of the enemies more manageable. Allow some bosses to be found outside of their arena with a chance to be attacked off guard to gain an advantage in fighting them.

I would make a hard dungeon that had 1 challenging mini boss between all bosses instead of trash mobs.
A training dungeon like this sounds fun. Basically dots need to always be up, can't be down for more than 3 seconds, healers must reach a target DPS, etc... It could be like an advanced training grounds.
