Looks completely fine to me. I like it. Don't know what you're smoking.

It looked great to me as well. Maybe it doesn't have Call of Duty grade graphics and because of that they are upset? RPGs were always about telling a story first and foremost than to deliver on graphics. This never really changed except well, Black Desert Online where graphics were priority and story was non-existent.

Was it jaw droppingly amazing? No, not really. Did it look like 14? Honestly, yeah, but I would say this is much more due to the style than the quality of the visuals.
Overall, I think it looked great even if it didn't punch me in the face with it's "next gen-ness!!1!"
It is probably unreal engine like ffvii remake was. For people not impressed by graphics go and look at both kh3 and ffvii early trailers and compare to the final product. I have no doubt it will look pretty when it comes out.

let's honest the "next gen" is a mess, in terms of power is not on par with any actual gamer pc that are around.... i feel that console are holding back most of the possible evolution of the gaming industry....Was it jaw droppingly amazing? It's probably an early build, it'll presumably look better later on.
Not entirely true. The people with the latest and greatest tech in their computers don't amount to the kind of profit that companies like Square enix are looking for. How many people do you know in your fc/linkshells with a 20 and 30 series Nvidia graphics card? It's most likely a handful.
We can kick consoles all we want, the people running PC games on their 2015 laptops are a bigger problem when it comes to holding games like FFXVI back.

I agree I expect things to look better, but I think "look better" has over taken all else for a lot of games. When I was a kid, I was so excited for the future of videogames because if they were amazing to me then, imagine what they'll be like in the future! Well, they look pretty good but most modern games feel so shallow anymore that it's hard to get excited for them.
I know people have different priorities for what they want in games, but I personally like the way Earth Defense Force has progressed. The game still looks like a playstation 2 game, but every new one has more missions, more weapons, more enemy types and enemies on screen, etc etc.
I like the visual design of 16 from what we've been shown so far, I think the more realistic visuals are well done and I like the more grounded character designs.
I've often joked that SE needs someone in their art department whose sole job is to say "that's enough, you can stop drawing now" due to the over designed outfits they have in so many games. So seeing something more grounded the 16 trailer makes me smile.
